Feeling Down Today

8 months ago against the advice of many people my DH and I put a contract on a home that was a short sale held by Bank of America. We thought having this much time would allow us to be in the home before my daughter started kindergarten or when our "rate lock" would expire. Well, today we decided to pull the contract because we can no longer hold the great interest rate we had. This interest rate was so low that we didn't have to bring any money for closing (VA loan so no money down) and we were getting a heck of a deal. After months of fighting with BofA to work on our closing we finally told the sellers realtor that we are pulling the contract.

I feel horrible for the owners of this cute little house that were trying not to go into foreclosure because BofA probably never had any intentions of honoring our contract or the 4 others that gave up before ours. I have spent a great deal of time looking into this BofA short sale crap and all of the complaints are the same. No one from BofA gives a crap.

School starts in a little over a month and I have registered DD5 in the school near our apartment. It's too late to start looking at other houses now plus we dropped $1500 on inspection and appraisal for the other house and we were hoping not to have to spend that money again. We should have looked anyways and just bit the bullet.

Now I have to continue to live in our cramped apartment with the family of 5 above us. I know that things could be a lot worse and I am thankful that we still have a place to call home. It's just not ours.

Sorry to be a bummer. I am just trying to get these feelings out before I head home to DD5 so she doesn't see how sad I am.

Thinking ice cream for dinner sounds like a good idea tonight. Extra fudge and whipped cream with salty fries to dip in it.

So sorry, how disappointing. I have heard horrible things about Bank of America.

Maybe, for whatever reason, it's just not time yet.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Something similar happened to us last summer but in our case it was Wells Fargo. After waiting for over 6 months, and paying fees to keep the rate lock, they came back and wanted more money because by that time the market was warming up again and the house appraised for much higher price. We ended up walking away and found an investor owned property a month later, things went much smoother.

I know it sucks to fall in love with a house, imagine making it as yours and then have it not work out but things happen for a reason. Maybe something better will come along.

Don't be sad. You will find your dream home soon, it'll have everything you've ever wanted and more! Interest rates are still a heck of a deal compared to 5/10 years ago. Keep looking, don't give up Smile

Sounds horrible ! Sometimes real estate deals are aweful ! Just as a warning, I recently sold my home to a buyer who was trying to us a VA loan. It was a nightmare !!!! And very very slow !
