Ugh!

BM bought SD17 a very nice, used Mustang convertible. She's also paying for SD's college education. SS21 worked his ass off to save money for a car. So did DS22, and DD17 is working to save her money for a car. Also, no college paid by SS21's mother, although he wasn't very motivated to go anyway. I feel bad for all of our other kids. We aren't able to fork out that kind of money because if we pay for one, we would have to pay for all. DH has his bios, and I have mine, but we don't and won't play favorites. I don't think SS21 knows yet. He will be hurt, but it's always been this way. BM has and will always favor SD. The funny thing - SD has no motivation or inclination to get her driver's permit. I suspect that car will sit in the garage a very long time. So help me Gawd, if I ever hear SD gloating about this, she will regret it.

I love dogs's picture

Let's just hope she's not allowed to drive unlicensed and with little experience.

If she does gloat tell her it is pointless because it is like someone throwing you a huge party and you are stuck in another country.
What if she shows up with the car and refuses to show you her permit? Can DH call the police to check she can legally drive? Just a thought.

The girl can't even ride a bike. She used training wheels until she got so big the training wheels bent and broke. She refused to learn. Same with potty training. She was wearing pull-ups at night (at her mother's house only, but peed the bed every night at our house) until she was in 5th grade. I'm sure she will have the same motivation to drive as she did to ride a bike. God forbid I or anyone else mention that she actually do something - "it's too much pressure."

She will turn out just like her mother. When DH married BM, BM was 32 years old and still living with her parents. When DH and BM split up, she moved in with her brother who lived in a house next door to his parents that his parents paid for. SD will probably live with her mother until her mother dies or SD decides to get married.

I just feel bad for the other kids. They worked for what they own and sometimes struggle doing it. I'm very proud of them for that. Everything has always been handed to SD. (not by DH but BM)

This brings back some ancient memories for me. When I was in HS two girls I knew got red convertibles. We were on the same drill team but I was never included in their activities as I came from an extremely impoverished family. One is now dead after a horrible life and the other leads a pitiful life where she is alone and has been on oxygen for a decade. TBH I feel sorry for how pathetic their lives turned out even with a shiny red convertible.

Yeah it sucks, but keep in mind all the other kids are going to appreciate and value the things they have, your SD will grow up to be a leech on her mother that she will never be able to shake free of.
