Sigh.... so frustrated. Anyone else's DH do this?

Last night I went shopping. I came home with some decor things for the house. I also got DH some body wash they had on sale that smelled really nice. I give it to him. Here's the conversation:
Me: Hey, while I was shopping I saw this body wash for men. It smells awesome, so I got it for you. Give it a sniff and see if you like it. If you don't, I'll take it back.
DH: You can do that? You can take it back after it's used?
Me: No, of course not.
DH: Then how can I sniff it?
Me: Open the top and smell it, just like I did.
DH: (alarmed and actually serious)SO HOW DO I KNOW ITS NOT POISONED??????
Me: WHAT???
DH: If it isn't sealed, how do I know it's not poisoned or tampered with?
Me: Is ANY soap or shampoo you buy safety sealed? I've never once bought any soap or shampoo that has a safety seal. That's ridiculous.
DH: But this is from a DISCOUNT store. So it might be the real store didn't want it because it's Chinese seconds.
Me: Are you being serious? (looking at him like he's a moron)
Yes. Yes, he was being serious. Over body soap from TJ Maxx. Really. It's still on the kitchen counter this morning, so I guess I'll take it back.
But really- W.T.F. dude? You know how SKids use feigned ignorance to get out things, or to act completely mystified by common sense things? Apparently DH's do it too.

This hasn't happened in a while probably because he is on the outs with SD and BM as far as I know.
Inexplicable meltdowns out of nowhere during which he accuses me and the kids of just taking him for everything he's got, using him disrespecting him and the cherry on top of the whole mess- we are sitting here doing nothing but waiting for him to die.
Strange how he only seems to do this when he's on good terms with SD.
It's like he'll believe any kind of horseshit idea SD and BM try to plant in his woefully underused brain.
