Pregnant Intolerance

Nymh's picture

Lately I have had very low tolerance for all the little things that I used to overlook. I have noticed that I am much more bothered by these things lately and at times have been going out of my way to point them out to BF and SS. Like for instance...(prepare for a bunch of bit$%ing and ranting)

BF and SS have a bad habit of putting dishes (most of the time with leftover food on them) on the counters instead of the sink. The other night, BF put a cereal bowl that was still half full of milk and cereal on the counter. We have a really bad ant problem, so NO food can be left sitting out or it will get swarmed. Luckily all I have to do is ask for them to please rinse their dishes and put them in the sink.

BF and SS are allergic to the hamper. SS will throw his dirty clothes and towels all over the bathroom instead of simply dropping them in the hamper in the corner. It doesn't even have a lid! This drives me crazy. I've asked BF several times this week to please ask SS to use the hamper. BF is just as bad. He will NOT put his clothes in the hamper in our bedroom. He does, however, pile them NEXT TO the hamper. Grrr...

We have a filter on our kitchen sink because we are on well water. It is our routine that when finished getting water, you turn off the filter so the water runs out the regular spout. SS doesn't do this. I know it's nitpicky but it drives me crazy.

I don't know if it's because he's a kid or because he never bathes at home, but when he takes a bath SS often "pretends" to have washed his hair and used soap on his body when he really hasn't. He's in there for just as long either way, I don't know why he does this. But BF always checks him afterwards to make sure he smells like soap, shampoo and toothpaste. Several times this week, SS has skipped the shampoo (he uses bubble gum scented shampoo so it's really obvious when he doesn't use it). Instead of making him go wash his hair right then (like I would do), BF gives him a stern look and asks him if he washed his hair, to which SS always responds, "Yes!" SS has also been working on the same bar of soap for several months now. I asked him if he uses the bar soap, and he said he's been using his Dad's liquid soap (I doubt that).

SS sleeps with the lights on if you let him. He has a night light and we leave the hallway light on for him (apparently he's afraid of the dark). But if you send him to bed, he will always lay down with the light still on. I used to just turn it off once he fell asleep, but I mentioned it to BF. You just don't get good quality sleep when the lights are on. BF told SS that he needed to keep his light off because he's much more grouchy and harder to wake up when he slept with it on. The first night, it was off. Last night, it was on again...so I just turned it off before I went to bed.

Sorry for all the complaining but I just needed to let it out!

I would be annoyed too. Were we used to live we had the same ant problem. Bless you!

My little annoyance and the skids using my razor, facial scrub, and using all my shampoo up. I buy them there own. Oh and them stealing my deoderant!

I think we all have those little problems with DH and Skids. I know somethings bother me more now than the did but I know why. DH and the skids have had 5 years to learn but they chose to act stupid, like they've never been told.

My skids will put their clothes in the hamper but when I wash them they won't put them away. Instead they end up on the floor and I have to rewash them. And another annoying thing is being told at 9pm they have no clean clothes for the next day, when I just washed clothes to days before. I fixed that though. I showed them how to use the washer and now they do their own clothes. Amazingly when they hace to do it the clothes acually get put away. Now the laundry hamper is always over flowing... Gggrrr...

Hamper issue- I have a cat that has decided to use my hamper as a litter box, be happy to lend you her for a while.

Light - unscrew the light bulb and hide all the rest.

We can get their attention !! (I am a witch)

My Son does the same stuff with the bath thing and he has always been here so I think thats somewhat normal since SD went through a time of it too,
the light thing too for both and it drives me batty- neither of the kids will bring down the hamper even when its overflowing - but ah well what can you do but try to make them remember the rules.

There is no reason where logic does not exist

I gatering by your post title your pregnant? Me 2 and i have the same problems with my SS and DF, and it also drives me nuts and i swear it has gotten worse since i got pregnant, my favorite one is when DF pulls the cloths out of he dryer and instead of folding hem he just sets them on top of the dryer instead of folding them, now y cant he just old them? I even tried leaving them there praying he would do it but not a chance he just piles more on. I also have the dishes full of food left on the counter, my DF even tried telling me the dishwasher made a funny noise and he didnt want to use it until it got looked at well the next day i ran it and to no surprise it ran fine, he just didnt want to load it. AHHH it drivs me crazy , i feel your pain:)

I agree with Cru if he is anywhere close to 12 years old. My BS15 used to be a pain to get to brush his teeth or wash his hair. But like Cru said as soon as the girls start hanging around...LOL..my BS15 now takes 2 showers a day, washes his face with cleanser, shampoos every second day, has a deodorant and aftershave and runs back inside the house if he forgot to brush hs teeth!! Oh and I have to mention the hair takes more than half an hour...and he's a boy!!

SS12 has started lieing about showering and since BM is never around to tell him what to do, we fear he is going days on end without showering at her house. DH was at work one morning this week and at night I hear SS say to DH that he had a shower this morning and he didn't need one now. I walked in to him and said you did not have a shower this morning, why would you say that? Don't you like having a shower? He says no, they suck and annoy me...LOL..5 mins later, DH walks out and says SS said he forgot, and he loves having showers...I am confused, he just told me showers suck?? Weird....becoming a liar or just normal 12 year old hating the tub?

As soon as my ss gets out of the shower I have him take his dirty clothes out of the floor and go put them in front of the washer on the floor. Now I have to remind him usually everytime but he does it cheerily. I am in the same boat with you and the shower. SS gets in the shower 10 minutes later I say are you done he says yes mam' and I hear the top to the shampoo bottle click open. I go in there and he has just started to wash his hair. So then he washes and gets out and I say did you bathe good and he says yes so I say well then why is there dirt all over your feet, and he says Oh I forgot! Now granted he is only 7 will be 8 in September but I tell him if he cannot wash himself and take shower that it will go back to like when he was little and he has to take bath and me or dad have to wash him. Then I tell him that if he wants to just stand in the shower and let the water run he can give me the money from his piggy bank to pay the water bill. Although I am only joking about that and he knows it he has told me before that I could use some of his money to pay the water bill if I needed it.

I am sorry things are nerving you. I would say it is due to being pregnant. However the food in the dished issue that would bother me either way!
