I posted last week about how SS refused to come for visitation because he would have been grounded by DH for behavior and failing school and lying about his completing homework. DH could have fought it, but decided not to force SS.

SS called last weekend. We were out of town. He said, "Dad, will you come get me? I want to come to your house for the weekend." It was not our weekend. I'm not sure what happened, but SS was not pleased with BM.

DH is picking him up tomorrow night for our scheduled weekend. DH is going to have a frank talk with SS. He is going to tell SS that SS will NOT call the shots. He's going to tell SS that SS WILL be with us every other weekend. If SS has something going on and would rather stay at BM's, he can call IN ADVANCE to switch weekends. DH will no longer allow SS to run our lives and to disrupt our plans depending on which parent he is currently at odds with. DH will not allow him to pit one against the other even if BB will.

I feel like celebrating. DH and I have been on the same page for the past 6 months and it feels good! It has been a rough year. SS is turning into a delinquent and there has not been much DH or I could do to get him off from the downward spiral. We can't control a lot of things, but we can and will take back control of our own lives.
