Fun with child as parent vs being the friend
One of my first posts, and this is more of for my actions towards my BS14 versus my SS. My DW has pointed out that at times, now that we have more time to focus on BS14and SS17, I have come across as a friend more than a parent towards BS14. I definitely do not want to step into that role, as he has a BFF in his BM as it is, and he needs at least one set of parents with me and DW. I am just curious for other's opinions on what is the line between being a parent that is having fun with their child, versus stepping into that BFF role?
I am concerned that in our joking around with each other, that he will see me in a buddy light and lose some of the parent respect. I have always been a strict parent, and this is new. I am pulling back some in order to teach him independence, but don't want that being construed as me being super lenient.
