OT - Sticking it to 'em - by Painting It
Something fun for you all - over here in my neck o the woods, is an alive and well art colony. Also a fishing village.
The two have met many times
Here is an instance where the meeting has gone ABSOLUTELY viral in a good way.
I know the fellow, and he is a talented artist with painting and I know his wifey who is a talented writer. Both very sweet and saucy folks. He is also a DJ and in our fun years, husband and I would go dancing while he spun the music!
We too have gotten the same letter, but our response was to park the boat somewhere else a few months, and bring it back...

It’s always astounded me the nit picky things people get uppity over. Good on the guy for doing this.
Home prices go up
And suddenly everyones a critic!
We dont live in a ritzy area. Loads of people have cars parked in the front lawn area, there are folks with motor homes showing...
Lol. I saw this recently. I laughed.
Well played to your friends.
Ordinances and HOA CC&Rs are a PITA for sure. If I am going to live in the Burbs or a city, I defiitely prefer living in a community with CC&Rs if only to keep the neighborhood presentable. But.... the never ending petty politics bullshit definately gets old.
My parents are in a never ending fencing match with their HOA on the property behind their home. The developer missmarketed that as Green Belt owned by the HOA. The even charged a lot premium for those lots as "green belt" lots. They are not green belt lots, there are no hike and bike trails on that land because it was not owned by the developer and it is not controlled by the HOA. The development has dozens of miles of green belt hike and bike trails as well as property owner pool, tennis courts, and play scapes. The property immediately behind my parents and several of their neighbors is not owned by the HOA. It is actually power company easement that the HOA has zero control over. The HOA attempted to fine my parents for cleaning up the power company easement, cutting down incroaching brush, etc..... They pay their lawn care company to keep the easement behind their home clear of brush, etc.... Dad and I have cut down several invasive Juniper trees in that easement over the years. No landscaping review required. We just go do what we want to do back there. The power company has repeatedly confirmed that we can keep brush removed, etc, etc, etc... They pay a contractor to brush hog the easement every couple of years and just grin when they see us or mom and dad's yard crew cleaning up the easement.
It finally took a nasty gram on lawyer letter head to get the HOA to STFU and crawl back under their rock. Every time someone new joins the HOA board on either the landscaping committee or Exec board, ... the letters start. Dad calls the power company, the power company calls the HOA and sends dad a letter and the plot plans showing that the property is not HOA property, and the dance goes on.
Dad has way too much fun ending that crap from the HOA every few years.
LOL.
We need to get more creative if we get another letter!
