Really wish we could post pictures here! I wanted to upload a photo I took of my SD 11's overflowing laundry basket. Here's how it got that way...

I have 2 of my own bio-sons ages 9 and 8, and I have THREE step kids: boy/girl twins age 9 and a girl age 11. With DH and I that means we are a house of SEVEN PEOPLE so, as you can imagine, laundry is constant and on-going.

Now, believe it or not, I actually LIKE doing laundry (sick I know). I feel like, even if I get nothing else done during the day, if I do a load of laundry then at least SOMETHING got accomplished. I usually just grab the baskets from the boys' rooms since they always leave their doors wide open but my 2 SDs always have their doors closed - so I knock and ask for the basket.

My 9 year old SD is always very happy to hand me over her basket, but my 11 year old SD usually has a HUGE chip on her should, like it's a big effort to hand me the basket and she's really doing ME a favor by handing me her dirty clothes to wash. So a few days ago when I knocked, she said "who is it?" and I said "just here to get your laundry!" and she said "do you have to now? I'm really busy". Hahahahaha, no problem girlfriend!

Told DH about it and he was surprisingly (and this never happens) on MY SIDE. He said - don't offer any more - let's see what she does. So it has now been about 5 days. I only peek in occasionally and today the pile was HUGE, so I took a picture. It doesn't help that she wears something for a hot minute and then throws it in the basket when she changes.

Can't wait to see what happens when she runs out of clothes.

My skids chose to let the laundry pile up until they run out of clothes. I stopped caringbl months ago.

Did my SD11 move to your house? She will only put her laundry out every 2 weeks...seriously, she only has to open her door and put in the hallway. The problem is I work 12.5 hour days, 3 days a week. During shift change or coverage, I can work 6 out of 7 days. Sometimes she will put her mountain of laundry in the hall, but I may be working for the 4 - 7 days. I will throw a load in at night once in awhile but not usually.

DSO has quit asking me if she has any pants clean b/c I go into superbitch mode. AFter her living with us for 2.5 years, she should 'get' the fact that if you put it out every few days, you may have clean clothes.

And don't anyone say she should be doing her own laundry or even DSO....no one touches the laundry, that's my job.

My BD9 and SD11 have been doing their own laundry since last summer. They put it in the washer, move it to the dryer, fold and put away. All do is remind them to do it on a day I know they have time and usually remind them when its done washing/ drying. Sometimes I help IF I have time, but its their responsibility. Been great for our house!
