I was doing my grocery shopping today, and I overheard a young woman (she looked like she was in her early 20s) was talking very loudly to her mother on her cell phone. We were both in the magazine aisle.

What I heard her say was unbelievable. She was talking about child support to her mother. To top it all off, the CS she was talking about wasn't meant for her or any kids she may have. It was meant for her much younger brother.

"Mom, you MUST call Jeff and ask him when he will be sending Michael's child support. I NEED that money. I don't have (or want) a job. Plus, he sends enough money to be divided up between the three of us."

(her BM talks)

"Ok, thanks mom, I'm coming home soon."

Her BM must let her take $$ out of her other child's CS check. I was so saddened by this whole conversation. I do blame the mother a lot, but I also blame the 21-year-old. She's old enough to find a job. I certainly have not always liked my job, but I worked nonetheless. She didn't sound even the slightest bit remorseful that she was consciously taking money that is meant for her brother.

I know that other people in the aisle heard too because I saw some of them turn their heads towards her quickly and I even saw some people shake their heads in disgust.

My heart goes out to that boy and his father (and SM if he has one!)
