Just came upon this site. Love it. I have recently resigned my post as stepmom. 2 stepdaughters ages 37 and 40. My hubby is 12 years older. I can so relate and am comforted in knowing that I am not alone. I've signed for cars, homes, babysat for, chaffeured, counseled, loved, and cared for, two of the most annoying, self centered, mean spirited, spiteful people ever placed on planet earth. They have even managed to turn the grand kids against me. Sad to watch young children have to avoid me at family functions. After 27 years, I have officially resigned my post. It's been hard for me not to come to the rescue, but I am keeping my distance. I have made it policy not to help those who hate me and wish ill on me. I pray for peace for those of you who are just beginning the step parent journey. Would like to share one of my favorite "step" quotes: " Evil step-moms only exist, in the minds of bitter ex-wives".
