BM trying to manipulate SD?

SoonToBe SD16 was told by her mom that she thinks i am trying to replace her. BM told her that she was jealous of the relationship she has with me.
WHY would you do this to a 16 year old?
SD and i had a GREAT talk about this over the weekend and it actually made us closer. BM is pushing her away.
wondering if BM is trying to manipulate her daughter into feeling guilty about liking me. or if she is just a psycho witch.
