Father's day: should I buy a gift on behalf of skids?

When I married DH, skids were 10 and I've bought every FD gift for their dad from them. The older they get, the less interested they become. Last two years I've picked the gifts and card out by myself. This year, both skids have part time summer jobs for the first time. I'm tempted to get no gift and see if they do it on their own. I know he'll be hurt if they don't and that sucks because he's a good father.
What would you do?

Why would they do it on their own when neither parent took the time to teach them to do so?

They have been taught that someone else picks out the gifts/cards. All they have to do is sign their names and hand the gift over.

I'm with ya. I stopped helping with Father's Day gifts a couple of years ago. He's not MY dad.

I usually buy DH a gift from me and one from all of the kids. 8 separate gifts would be a bit much. lol.

Skids coming to spend entire day with him. This is huge, they've never made an effort before. So hopefully they'll get him something and yes I'll remind them again. I'm thinking they think if he is graced with their presence the entire day, these gift enough. For DH that would be sufficient but they could at least bring a card. I still plan on a gift but it's from our dogs. He did the same for me on mother's day.
