Martial Assets VS Gifts-Adult Skids

I found this blog listed below very interesting. OP is talking of DH buying SS25 new FORD F-250. OMG! You are talking $$$. OP states that DH is wealthy. What is wealthy in your mind? Many posted...not your money...not your kid. If OP's DH became disabled and SS25 took over the business, my guess is the company would go under over time. Many wealthy people in this world have became totally broke over time.

I like Rags way of thinking in reference to Martial Assets. My dad was odd school. I heard him say many times...You are an adult at 18. If you want something, work for it.

If you were left widowed tomorrow, would you be left for broke? The scary thing about being married is the way your spouse spends money could effect your security over night.

My dad use to also say...Save for your rainy days. When rainy days come, you never know how long they will last. Dad was not a wealthy man but he was not poor either. Sadly, he passed away at the young age of 62. However,he is taking care for my mother of 83 years of age. She has funds from his retirement to add to her social security check.WHY? My dad was smart about spending and saving.

This is the situation with my DH. Instead of saving up for a nice nest egg he placed hundreds each month into SD's bank account. If anything happens I will have to divorce him.

THIS THIS THIS

One reason I kept putting off marrying exDF, was because he expected to benefit from everything I accumulated (insurance,pensions,401Ks...)before meeting him. I intend for all of that to go to my son. Had we met and married 20 years ago, my opinion on this would be different.

I don't expect a man to to take care of me while he's living or once he dies. I won't allow anyone to tell me how spend the money I earn on my son.
