So, about two weeks ago I went to the ER for pain in my abdomen... And I mean PAIN! I'm not one to cry over heartburn,iImean hell iI have had 3 babies and my labor pains were no where near the pain I had felt/been feeling.

The Dr at the ER told me I have Gallstones, and I have made an appointment with a sergen, for couciltation next week. And hopefully surgery to remove my gallbladder... The Dr at the ER prescribed some pain medication to ease my discomfort/pain until my sergery, but I have recently run out of these pain meds... I am still in pain, but I have never asked for pain meds from my Dr because of fear, I don't want him to think I'm an addict. But I can't suck it up this time.

Should I make an appointment to ask my Dr for more medication? Or would calling him suffice?
Like I said, I've never asked for a refill on medication, so how should I go about asking?

Let em know what's going on. I worked in a jail for 2 years. A situation with gallstones can go from bad to worse to death if ignored. I watched it happen. My inmate didn't die but it came close. Call the doctor, let them know. Be honest. It's your body.
Keep an eye out for dependency though. I've seen normal people get addicted out of the clear blue.
Call the doctor though. Gallstones are no joke.

I have had what's called gallstone attacks, for the past 3 mo. My fist was while Iwas ppregnant with our DS, and I just though it was DS pushing on my tummy with some really bad heartburn. My second attack was 3 weeks ago when I had FDH take me to the ER. And my third a few days after that. I called the specialist the Monday after I went to the ER (it was a Friday) the receptionist told me that he was booked out until the beginning of April, my Appointment has been scheduled but it is still over a week until just the consultation.

I don't feel the paralyzing pain all the time, but I still do feel pain when I eat or drink anything. On a 1-10 scale I'd say its a 7 almost all day, the Dr at the ER had given me enough medication for two weeks, so I haven't had the assistance for the last 3 days, thinking I could tough it out, but now on the third day I am so exhausted from the pain. Its effecting my sleep.

I'm just nervous to ask for the meds, but I know I need to.

Granted I have other problems so they saw me ASAP when I had abdominal pain. Saw my primary care on Friday morning, saw the surgeon that afternoon and had my gallbladder out on Sat am. It was an infected mess and my pain was only around a 5. Go back to the ER if your doctor cannot see you- this can become an emergency situation fast. You may just be in a hell of a lot of pain or you could have developed an infection you didn't have when your were the last time. Pain meds are a wonderful thing when used properly and this is one of those times.

I am sorry you are dealing with this pain.

I would call your doctor, and if you cannot get a prescription quickly I would go back to the ER. Many doctors can tell when someone is an addict in actual pain. There is nothing wrong in getting meds when you need it.
