Update on SD14's birthday
Hey there,
So, those who followed my last post knows my SD just turned 14 on Saturday. Prior to that, she hadn't called, texted, emailed or contacted us in more than a month. DH called and texted her every week with zero response.
Friday, DH gets a call. I'm thinking it's from SD since her birthday is the next day. It's his dad. Seems instead of calling DH, SD called granddaddy (cuz he spoiled her like crazy too). She wants granddaddy to pick her up for her birthday and take her out for dinner!!! She hadn't seen or spoken to granddaddy since Father's Day! Oh, but ONE day before her birthday, she magically appears and wants to go to dinner? At granddaddy's expense, no less.
Granddaddy calls DH and says he's gonna take her to LUNCH not dinner (since he'd already made dinner plans) and then over to see the great-grandparents and wants us to come over there since "this ignoring each other has gone on long enough!" DH politely declined, saying it was quite the coincidence (NOT) that the SD finally gets in touch with someone on DH's side of the family after SIX weeks, and it happened to be the day before her birthday and sorry but we had already made plans for Saturday!
DH swings by SD's place Friday night to drop off her birthday card. Mom is sitting passenger side of her Jeep, some guy is getting into driver's side and SD is in backseat. Now, mom has said she wouldn't date until SD was 18, per SD's DEMAND...seems 14 is ok though.
DH stands outside the back of the Jeep tapping on the window for a few seconds and instead of getting out to give dad a hug (she hadn't seen him or spoken to him in more than a month), she rolls down the window and says "What?" He hands her the birthday card (with no money) says he loves and misses her and hopes she'll call him someday and walks off.
Saturday, SD's birthday. She doesn't show to granddaddy's for lunch. No call, no text, nothing, just doesn't show. Surprise, surprise. So he sends her a card with $50. DH just shook his head and said "thanks for rewarding such horrible behavior dad". And yes, we know her phone works just fine because her little friend that we ran into at the grocery store showed us a text she had just received from SD. She just chose not to respond to any of his family or him.
This kid and her mother are such morons! DH and his family are super sweet people and anyone would be lucky to have them in their life. SD is just throwing them away like old trash. Sickening.
Yeah, poor granddaddy just
Yeah, poor granddaddy just wants everyone to get along but this kid makes it impossible!
