Being a parent is hard enough. Being a Step-parent is even harder! I have heard plenty of how it takes a "special" person to do this or that. How special do steps feel when we realize just how Tough and special we are for taking on all we do,all we take in, and all we deal with! We are tougher than most and the bps should be xxxthankful for it.....(in a perfect world).

They should! I was not so lucky, but my sister is! Their BM cannot express enough how much she appreciates how much my sister has done with her SS. Her DH was a long haul driver at the time her DH got full custody, so guess who raised the kid! Both bios are very grateful and SS loves her like a mom and refers to her and DH as his parents. He loves BM too, of course.

BM is a crazy bat but my sister's DH has always backed her on house rules and keeping BM in her place. There were many times and still are that I wonder how in the world she tolerates that idiot BM, but she has and overall they've had a good thing going.

Not that SS is perfect. He came with plenty of issues from life with wacko BM and has been in plenty of trouble, but even wacko BM does not undermine my sister's DH in discipline. I think my sister saved that kid and they all know it. They raise that boy like a normal teen with normal teen issues and rules and consequences. He's such a good kid and very much my nephew.

Sigh.

I don't envy her that BM, but at least she gets the love from all that she deserves. That, I do envy.
