help needed from blended families
Forums:
I have two daughters and three step children who live with their mum. I come from a simple two parent two kids family so need help with blended family life.
Can i ask do your step children have their own room at your house and do they holiday with you?
Yes, mine have their own
Yes, mine have their own rooms at our house but they are here about 50% of the time. Yes, we take them places but it's different every time. Actually, we pretty much stopped taking sd15 with us as she made everyone miserable. So sometimes we send her the same place by herself several months later. (to gramma's) She behaves better when we're not there so dh is not embarrassed and it's a win for everyone.
I have two SKids that both
I have two SKids that both have their own rooms. They are with us every single weekend.
I have no bios. I would supposed if I did have bios, the rooms would be separated by gender and we would do bunk beds or something.
Well we have a three bed
Well we have a three bed house, my two girls share the biggest room in the house and my stepdaughter has a pull out bed/couch in with them. The other room has no beds in at the moment but my step son aged 8 has been staying in there on his ready bed (we only moved here recently) my eldest step son is 11 and has decided he doesn't want to sleep over anymore but comes on days out with us etc and for dinner once a week. Me and oh have spoken of having another baby so are unsure what to do re bedroom situation. We could do a boy and girls room but if we had a daughter together it would meen the four girls sharing. And the spare room only being used once or twice a week by my step son.
We can't afford a bigger
We can't afford a bigger house but i can't accept never having our own child
He has said various different reasons over a period of time, he said he feels the And that d one out because his siblings are all younger and he's starting high school. And that we go out without him on days out (we definitely dont)
Yes, each child has their own
Yes, each child has their own room. We bought a 6 bedroom, 4 bath home to accommodate our blend. When we first "moved in together" we had them share rooms and it wasn't ideal for our kids.
I am in the UK but yes its
I am in the UK but yes its similar. Being one of two I always had my own room so can't imagine ever having had to share but my oh was one of 5 with a single mum so has always had to share and thinks I've lived a pampered childhood! God it's just good to talk to other blended families! I don't know any! Especially not with as many kids as we have.feel like a freak show some days. Overall we are very happy as a family, but with all families we have our problems to over come and I have nobody to advise me on these issues.
Sorry only just saw the
Sorry only just saw the comments about my eldest step son. I have no idea how to make him happy so advise would be appreciated. We take all kids out together on days out on a regular basis. We have him over for tea once or twice a week. We was going to have an extension on the back of our house to make into a 'lad pad' another sort of front with a bed/couch etc but he won't sleep downstairs so it was pointless. I feel like whatever we do he won't sleep over. Tbh I think some of it he likes being at home with his mum without the other two there. He's getting to an adolescent age where the younger kids just seem annoying and different to him.
