DH ready to set some rules...maybe
As it was time to take SD home this evening, I was trying to fix dinner for DS. SD mentioned that she was hungry. We went through the list of the food options we had (pork chops, ribs, sandwich, ramen noodles...etc.) and she didn't want any of those. SD could say what she DID want though. I told her to call her mom and see what her dinner options at home would be so she could decide between the options. SD told her mom that we didn't have any food here and listened to her options at BM's house. Then handed the phone to DH to finish the conversation. After deciding to just stop at a fast food place on the way to BM's, they loaded up. DH came back up to grab his car keys, telling me that SD was in the car crying because they no longer had time to go to the game store. She didn't ask at all to go shopping AND my mom had taken her shopping on Saturday - where SD declined to go to the game store.
DH is now upset that SD has become so spoiled!!! Well, duh!! He insisted we set up some rules!! I've been ready for this for over a year!! I wasn't going to be the one to set up and enforce the rules all by myself. No need to do anything else to cast myself in the "evil step mom" role any more than I already do!
Wish me luck, ladies!

What is up with skids and eating?!? There is a trend here. My son will eat anything, we call him a fruititarian However, when skids are here (SS 10 and SS 12) they hate all food. Unless it is chicken nuggets, chicken patties, fries, ramen noodles, or peanut butter sandwiches. Once I told my SS 12 that he would eat what I made (OMG, forcing healthy food on him) and all of a sudden he complained to DH about a stomach ache. What did I do? I called him on it and told him how manipulative that is. No more mystery stomach aches at meal time and I am not a short order cook. I've compromised and will give them a partially unhealthy meal once a day. Chicken patties with a vegetable or something. I cringe to see that they just love random meat scrap mush food. However, BM is bashing my DH on facebook. But that's another post
There must be a step child eating disorder phenomenon.
Beaks and butts. Mmmmmmm

DH did talk to BM, who
DH did talk to BM, who admitted that there really wasn't anything at her house for dinner. By the time we got all that sorted out, there really wasn't time to get anything ready for her at our place. SD is a pretty good eater - she'll eat every 2 hours if we let her! She's not overweight and I've actually found that I drop poundage if I eat with her!
The spoiled part was her crying over not being able to go to the game store - especially after being treated the day before!
We're trying to get her to not equate love with gifts. She gets enough of that from BM. We want her to know other (healthier) ways of expressing love. Plus, her room is stuffed with crap toys that she "had" to have, but doesn't take care of or even play with!
