Civil Investigation-experience?
Sorry for a longer post, but I feel like I need to give some details about this:
During the most recent visit to family court, BM was grasping at straws to make herself not look so bad and she said she was concerned for SS9 because she believes “this whole situation” of her new pregnancy and two different homes was stressing him out and therefore affecting him in a negative way. She even went as far as to say that he is struggling in school due to “all this stress”. (DH and I do not experience SS having stress issues and he performs quite well with his homework when he is at our house.)
Background: BM has a criminal record and CPS removed the child from her care years ago. The court continues to give an inch and she takes a mile.
This “stress” seemed to trigger something for the judge and she ordered a “Civil Investigation”, along with reducing BM’s parenting time to EOW (this isn’t the first time with her having EOW). I wasn’t in the court room because it stresses me out too much, but that’s how DH said things progressed.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? What does it entail? What is the purpose, really? I’ve done my Google research, but I still can’t figure out what the main purpose is. For example, what will happen if the investigation finds that he is, in fact, stressed? Order family therapy? What if he exhibits different behaviors in one home and not the other?
I am confident with my and DH’s relationship with SS and our parenting roles. I just don’t understand enough about a “Civil Investigation” like this to NOT be nervous.
Any experiences you can share, or advice you can give, would be truly appreciated.
Thank you!
