Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

Awesome...
So happy for your friend!
I can sort of relate...I was diagnosed with something called Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans about a month and a half ago after having a marble sized tumor removed from under the skin on the right side of my belly. Apparently this is a very rare form of skin cancer that is not caused by the sun and only 1 in a million people per year get it. I am having something called MOHS surgery next Tuesday and I am praying that this does not come back and that I won't need further therapy. I do know that I have to be checked for this every 6 months to a year for the rest of my life because this type of cancer is notorious for coming back over and over again. Apparently this MOHS surgery is the best for this type of cancer and in turn it has a very low recurrence rate if the surgery is done properly. The only problem is, not many doctors do it, or have done it because this cancer is so rare. So...I went to my 2nd dermatologist/plastic surgeon today and he recommended a 3rd doctor who is good at this type of surgery. If doctor #2 did "his kind" of surgery, he would have to remove a huge part of my belly (the size of a large mans hand) and do a skin graft. Eeewwwww...I was like, no thanks! I am a tall, thin girl so that would take up my whole belly!
So anyway, wish me luck! Again, that is great news about your friend. God bless him!
Big hugs from me to you, honey!!!
Never settle for less than best when it comes to this. Go broke if you have to.
You are in my prayers. I am wishing you so much more than luck my dear.
