Does anyone else have food issues with their stepchildren?
SS is driving me nuts! He's 10 now so we don't send him to daycare, school ends at 3 so he's home by 3:30 and DH is home no later than 5 everynight.
I leave SS a snack for after school and than cook dinner when I get home. Well lately he's been eating us out of house and home. Just Thursday alone he ate the following in the 1 and 1/2 hours he was alone at home.
Strawberries 1 lb package
6 pudding cups
4 glasses of chocolate milk (he used 4 different cups so more for me to wash)
3 ice cream bars
6 pieces of bread
1/2 tub of frosting
8 slices of cheese (he left the package open so everything else dried out)
3 yogurts
and all sorts of other things - this has been going on for weeks now. He's a normal sized kid not overwieght and it doesn't matter what we say to him he just won't stop eating everything. I'm assuming he's bored and eating but really it's getting on my nerves.

wow, that's a lot for one child
even if he is having a growth spurt. Is he having friends over?
I thought he was having
I thought he was having friends over as well but that's not the case. My mom's been doing a drive by randomly and he's never had friends over. My neighbor is also very nosey and hasn't seen any kids over.
It's gotten to a point that he's eating so much stuff that I never know what's in the house, this morning I looked for bread to make sandwiches for everyones lunch and it was all gone, just 1 slice. I just bought that bread on Thursday!
just a thought....
Is some thing going on at school??/ that is keeping him from eating during the day, and he is coming home starving? Just a possibility, you may want to talk with him about. I would hate to think he is doing this out of boredom, or deppression. Thats alot of food for a kid his age (or any age really) to eat in one sitting."~waiting on the world to change~"
I just talked with SS's teacher
and it seems he is eating at school and we've got a dr's appt for this week, so if nothing is wrong with him and he's eating as school my next thing is to lock the fridg and pantry. Sucks to have to get to that point.
I have four kids that will
I have four kids that will do the same, they get to choose a snack the night before and everything else gets locked up - if not, the $1000 A MONTH I have to spend on groceries would triple. Sounds mean I guess but oh well. Personally, I think they get bored and they want an excuse for not doing their chores. It works for us though, we also have a lock on the freezer. Oh, and coke products are only for good behavior, DHR says I have to feed and water them, not spend a fortune on cokes. My kids go through a gallon of milk a day and at least 2 of the two liters.
my SS has horrible eating habits
He is 10 also and is over 100lbs. I have found empty potatoe chip bags under his bed, cookie boxes, ect. in fact last year I was soooo pissed. the BM sent a whole box of treats to our house, my DH new she sent them but did nothing to "control"the situation. any ways there was a fight one day that he wasn't shareing them with my daughter,( which is fine) (she called me at work to tattle) I told him to put the reeses peanut butter cups away and when i get home we will talk about it, when I got home guess what, his way of fixing it was to eat them all so there wouldn't be a fight anymore. the kid eats CRAP all the time I made a just plane tomatoe hamb. hot dish he ate it like crazy, hes never had bologna before, and DH will not confront "her" on how big he is getting, then to top it all off she puts clothes on him that are a size 12reg. when the kid should be in huskies UGH...................... :jawdrop:
