How did YOU and your DH tell your skids you were pregnant?!!?
I am trying to think of how we will tell them. I want to do it in a way that is fun for them, to try and get them excited about the idea.
How did you tell your skids you were pregnant.. also, how did you surprise other family members w/the news? I am looking for your creative ideas!!!

HA.. omg.. that would be
HA.. omg.. that would be funny, though she has NO sense of humor. Has someone on here seriously done that?!?!?!?!?
I want to hold off as long as possible telling them.. because that means she would then know... I want to enjoy as much of this as possible.
I am wondering if one of their first questions would be "where are the babies going to sleep?" I am torn from telling them right away, and not. However, they are pretty smart, and I am thinking they will know we knew when they first asked that they were going to have to share on their visitation weekends.
i think someone has!
not sure who though, but i vaguely remember reading it...
a former coworker of mine used that as a way to tell our BOSS she was pregnant again...she waltzed her kid in wearing that tee instead of actually telling them...and this was once she was like 6 months along and we all had guessed 3 months ago. can we say passive aggressive? LOL!

I am trying to think of ways to tell our parents as well. we plan on telling my FIL and MIL at my FIL's 60th bday party, as we are flying there to see them... they live several states away!
how cool!
maybe give them grandparents items...??? i will try to think of some actual things u can do instead of just smart-ass ones!

How about
A game of charades or pictionary. Play along for a while and then once you are nearing the end, make that the last clue that either you or DH act or draw. I think by then it will have them so excited that the new baby will be all the rage and the game will end anyways. THEN I would send them home in the Big Bro/Big Sis t-shirt. LOL. Congratulations.

You don't have to LOVE me, you don't even have to LIKE me... But you will RESPECT me.
Hmmmm.. I dont know that we
Hmmmm.. I dont know that we have ever played charades or pictionary w/the skids. Like the idea though.
I would say something along
I would say something along the lines of - "well girls your Dad and I are going to have a baby - now you will both get to see what it is like to bring a child into this world under the right circumstances and what's it's like have both parents work as a team and love one another." - is that too harsh....lol??
Seriously - I have no idea how to tell them I just felt compelled to be somewhat of a smartass...sorry.

OMG.. that is a riot.
OMG.. that is a riot. Ummmm.. yeah.. might be a bit harsh!! lol.. and ss HATES criticism of his mom.. (this is normally perceived criticism.. ie.. would you rather be on vacation or home.. he picked home.... vacation was DISNEY WORLD)
How I told my parents
I told my parents we were expecting our first child at Christmas. I bought them a bib that said "I love my grandparents" and wrapped it like any other present. They were pretty excited! I told them I was pregnant with No. 2 at Thanksgiving, no special way. My husband's parents live four hours away, so he just called them.
What I like is the way I told my husband, and you could use that for either set of parents. With both our children I knew for about a week (took a home pregnancy test) before I told him. It was kind of neat having this amazing secret and anticipating his reaction. For our first daughter I bought him a Precious Moments figurine of a pregnant woman. I wrapped it and had him sit on the couch to open it. He was excited and still tells me today he likes the way I told him I was pregnant. I did the same thing with No. 2, with a different pregnant woman figurine. We keep both figurines on the top of the entertainment center in our living room, next to a picture of our babies.
Elizabeth, that sounds
Elizabeth, that sounds really cute. Too bad Dh was home the night I took the preg. test. He actually had picked them up for me, as I had not yet gotten my . and we were confused, because that is like the ONLY month we didnt try!
Maybe a bib for grandpa's 60th bday!!
We did the T-shirt
We made SD (6 1/2 at the time) a really cute shirt that said I'm gonna be a big sister. We gave it to her and just let her read it. She was so excited!!! We didn't let her take the shirt home, but let her give the good news to BM herself. We waited as long as possible to tell her for the same reason you want to. I think I was around 4 months before we told her and really starting to show. It probably seemed like a short pregnancy to SD b/c our son was 2 months yearly too. It is your pregnancy and you should try to enjoy it. You might think that BM is going to be ok with it, but they never are. Ours was ok at first and then started causing problems which stressed me out. That is one thing that they had with DH that you didn't....a child. That is what made BM special (in their eyes) and now that you have a child with him too they are equal. I don't have any good ideas for parents and friends. We were so excited with my son that we just called and told everybody. For the next baby I'm planning on letting my son wear a shirt that says BIG brother on it to tell the news.
Jen, I full anticipate bm
Jen, I full anticipate bm being UNhappy w/the whole idea. She can be quite psycho. She flipped out when I bought a new car, which I needed to get to and from work that i travel for.
My clothes are actually loser right now. The acupuncturist said that is because the babies are taking everything I put in there.. That I am getting NOTHING.. that unlike a single pregnancy that I have to eat all the time, as the 300 extra calories is just for singles..
My weight has not changed... but I think my cup size has.. Is that TMI?? anyway, I am hoping that we can hide it from them until at least Thanksgiving. I am 9 weeks this Sunday

What do you guys think of this grandparent brag book, its neutral as to gender (since we wont know for awhile) and I could put a pic of the u/s in them. 1 for my parents, and 1 for his.
What do you think about that?
funny story.....
I was like fustratedinMA, no r weight gain at first, but bigger on "top". I was at SS base ball game, and so was the BM, and she kept staring at me (as always), after the game was over, she calles our cell phone and says to SS, "how can they say they have no $$, but your stepmom got a boob job"....I called her back right after SS told me what she said, and told her it was a "gift" from the baby we were expecting, and would like it if she would keep her eyes off the "twins", cause I don't play that way! "~waiting on the world to change~"
that is hilarious chel!
BM is a real screwball, thats for sure...to be staring at ur chest the whole time while she SHOULD be watching her son play ball. what a mess!

Christmas Present
I told my SD8 at Christmas around the same time I told my family - who was over our house for Christmas. It was kind of a rush job and shock treatment, but ohh well - - we didn't want to have her dwell on it - just be caught in the moment. Before we told the family we pulled her into her room and told her privately. She was all happy (of course, honeymoon phase) and then told her that we are going to have the family open up presents and have them guess the secret and she cannot tell. It was a great moment. Of course, things are all different now that the little one is here. She is now 4 months.
OMG.. Chel, that is a
OMG.. Chel, that is a riot!!! I especially like the I dont play that way!! HA.
A friend said she has a 12 piece puzzle that spells out We are having a baby.. but w/clues.. so like in baby, the by is a picture of a bee. They thought that perhaps that would be a fun way to tell them, to get them all excited.
