Boy Scout vent
SS6 will be a cub scout this year. FH has told SS6 and BM numerous times that he will participate with him just like he’s done for SS11. BM has always considered boy scouts to be a father/son activity. In the past BM has put guilt trips on FH when he hasn’t been able to attend SS11’s boy scout activities because of work.
So what do you think BM did?
She signed up to be SS6’s Den leader.
Now she’ll be at every cub scout event with FH and SS6. Great. FH was looking forward to more one on one time with SS6 and now BM will be there. FH is taking it in stride and he says it's not a big deal. But I think it sucks.

We're dealing with the same
We're dealing with the same kind of thing. Only my ss's Bm never signs ss up for anything. She just tries to take over when we do.
Why can't she get her own activity to do with ss?!
It does suck!
Dawn
That's weird...
That's the last place I'd wanna be with an ex. Is she a control freak or still in love with him?
Control
I get the feeling that BM is insecure. Especially since SS6 has no problem hanging out with me when BM, FH, and I are at kid activities.
SS6 is her baby and I think this is her way of controlling him. Now BM has a valid reason to be at all the scout activities (I usually attend these activities too) and can keep a close eye on SS6 i.e. BettyRay.

Scouting
I think if SS6 had his way he would not be a cub scout. This is another way for BM to control SS6. Whereas SS11 is a follower, SS6 is a leader and speaks his mind. I think BM is afraid that SS6 would drop out of scouts if she wasn't there.

Wish *my* ex would take over scouts!
Scouts is so much work I WISH my ex would take over that job. Your BM doesn't know how good she has it! For me, it's like pulling teeth to get him to even come to a scout event (let alone HELP or VOLUNTEER!). Being both a step and a bio, but putting on my biomom hat for this one, I would GLADLY relinquish the scouting responsibilities if the ex would step in. That would be a dream come true.
I agree, Married Prince
I agree, Married Prince Charming! Being a Scout leader takes hours of planning and executing fun but practical activities and events, and enlisting the support of other parents, all within the guidelines of the councils. My involvement didn't have a thing to do with keeping my ex from visitation times; my son just liked scouting -- especially camping! But like you, I wouldn't have minded in the least if my ex had taken over as leader. Lord knows, I had plenty else to do.
