we set a date!!
FH and i have been trying to figure out exactly what we want to do for our wedding for awhile now. we really wanted to go get married on teh beach at a resort in the caribbean, but lack of funds wont allow for that so we thought we could get married at a winery here and then stay at this beautiful B&B that we stayed at twice before, the first time being the very first time i came to visit him here in STL!
i started looking at wineries but they wanted alot and we hadnt narrowed it down yet. in the meantime, i emailed the owners of the B&B and told them what was going on and asked what their availability was. he called and we started talking and he asked about the actual wedding plans...i said we hadnt finalized that yet, we were trying to find out availability for both and then coordinate. well...he offered the gazebo on his gorgeous vineyard estate for us to get married!!! he said they would get flowers and decorate however we wanted AND his son in law is a photographer and could take care of that reasonably too! also, my friend who is a pastor will perform the ceremony for us!
so.....on october 4th of this year, we are getting married!! just a small ceremony...just the two of us, the pastor and a witness...very intimate, very romantic. we are so excited!!! like over the moon happy!
we just really felt that it was time to start focusing on US and get married and start the family that we both always dreamed of. for so long i was worried it wouldnt happen and now everything is FINALLY falling into place and working out for us. im just so happy today and i couldnt wait to share it with all of u!

this B&B
isnt a frilly lacy victorian B&B...just a beautiful house and very elegant, clean and simple. the owners are lovely, their breakfasts are amazing and the estate is breath-taking. its just so different from what you typically think of w a B&B. we love it.

I understand...
I was really only kidding about us crashing your affair!
However....if this winery is all you say it is, THAT may be a nice spot for the next retreat!!!

Ok here's the books we used
Our minister gave us this one
For As Long As We Both Shall Live- by Roger Fritts
LOTS of good basic ceremonies
Then this one
Celebrating Interfaith Marriages-
by Rabbi Devon A Lerner
I bought because it had some very cool readings from every Christian denomination, as well as Jewish readings (because that's the purpose of the book- Jewish/Christian ceremonies.) So though we weren't in that situation, it was an excellent resource for readings.
I found a lot online too I believe, including our vows, which I put together from other vows I found online. The internet is a great help in that department. Even though I'm rarely at a loss for words, we planned our wedding in 6 weeks, during the semester my Senior year of college, and I was too strapped mentally to write original ones.
Happy Planning!

i knew you were kidding about the wedding crashing however as ive said before, MO w all the wineries and B&B would make a GREAT place for next retreat!

I haven't been to St. Louis since 2000. I spent most of my childhood on the east side of the river. October is gorgeous there that time of year. Congrats! I so miss toasted ravioli.....

Lovely!!
That sounds so nice!! Congrats. We had a small wedding 30 guests in a beautiful rainforest Garden at the Gold Coast Australia. It was lovely, but what you have planned sounds exactly like what I would have wanted, Unfortunately DH has a huge family and we already p'ed off most of his fam by not inviting aunties and cousins and nephews and so on...Hope you have a wonderful time planning, that is half the fun xx
