Anyone have any tips on how to stay awake and focused at work? I was up most of last night stressed about work and now today I am struggling. I sit at a computer all day.
Get up and go and run some cold water over the backs of your wrists then wash the back of your neck with some cold water too. Other than that, caffeine and doing easy tasks and accepting that today is going to be a slow day for you and that you'll catch up the rest of the week.
:jawdrop: have you not taught yourself the office sleeping position...
Oh dear, listen now...
sit behind your pc screen, head bowed a bit, hands on the keybord, it has to look like you are reading.... then take a power nap, 10min... type something... sleep 10 min.... believe me it's an art I've perfected by now
Vitamin B and Caffein. I use the Bayer Engergy or Boost sparkling tabs. Both are B complex supplements. Enegery has more B variants and Boost has a few less B variants with the addition of Guarana I am not sure if they are available in the US. I get them here in Morocco.
I also find that a 10min power nap works wonders. Find a conference room or empty office. Turn out the lights, close your eyes, clear your mind, and relax. I had to do that while driving to work yesterday AM. It sounds alarming I know. When I could find a safe place on the toll way to get off of the road I pulled over, turned up the heat in my car, kicked the seat back and dozed for 10-15 minutes. After that I turned the temp way down so it was freezing, cranked up the music and drove another 35minutes to work. Right now I am working an hour and a half from our apartment. Usually I don't have a problem with getting sleepy while driving but with jet lag and the stress levels of working with the worst manager/leader I have ever had in my 30+ year career my body is starting to go into revolt.
