Wish this commencement address video was around when my skids graduated - and got married!

I think this applies to many situations this younger generation will encounter in their life. Blum 3

The transcription of this speech is required reading in my house, except for SS8. He might not grasp it so well.

I loved it too. Wonder where you could get a transcription of it. Loved the part where he reminded the graduating students that no one is the center of the universe. I feel somewhat sad for these kids who, when they move on into the real world, realize that contrary to what they were raised to believe, the world does not revolve around them. I think it is very important to raise a child with confidence and self-value. But it is so unfair to give them an unrealistic impression of self-worth.

Growing up, SD was misled into believing she was the best, the smartest, the prettiest girl in the world, and could not be equaled. So now, every couple of years she has a 'misunderstanding' at work or with a friend or with a relative - and it is always 'their' fault. She is an intelligent woman but she can't seem to keep a job or a friend for more than a couple of years. She is no longer welcome in the homes of many of her relatives. She continually over-rates her intelligence but belittles the intelligence of others. She has over-indulged because it is owed to her, is now obese and expects everyone to jump to her needs. This woman is now a 37 year old emotional cripple. It's sad.
