SS16 is making Career Plans!

DH got a text yesterday that SS16 had skipped a class. When DH confronted SS16 about it SS16 said he did miss a class but it was because he was attending an informational meeting with the local tech college.

SS16 has decided to enter a dual program (HS/Tech School) because he wants a career in the trades. He has three tracks to choose from: welding, tool & die, and robotics. Hasn't decided which track yet.

If SS16 gets into the program next year (his junior year of HS) he will go to HS in the morning and technical college in the afternoon for trade classes. Then SS16's senior year of HS he will go to HS in the morning and an apprenticeship in the afternoon.

So proud of him for planning for life after high school!

good for him! SS19 did

good for him! SS19 did this... well.. tried to do this. He signed up for the Conservation program at the trade school. Same as yours, it's a 2 year program. Kids go 1/2 day to regular school, 1/2 day to trade school. I have no idea HOW they took SS19 because he has had attendance, tardy and suspension problems going back to 5th grade, but they did. And guess what? He got dropped after the first semester because his grade was below a 50, sure it was because he couldn't be bothered to go. DH said that SS told him it was because the program was "boring". They actually took them out and had them planting trees, helping stock creeks for fishing season etc. Ya know those "conservation" type things?

Lord knows it's MUCH more exciting for SS19 who is now a high school drop out to play video games and smoke dope all night and sleep all day. (eye roll)
