ok so i check the clock and see it's almost 2p. lunch crowds are done, let me go deposit my check in the bank. i've got 2k worth of bills sitting in front of me, so i decide to look at current balance online so i can decide what bills we can pay or not.

WE GOT OUR FED. TAX RETURN IN!!!!!

i am breathing a HUGE sigh of relief right now.

It might be worth changing your withholding, so that you have that money at your disposal throughout the year, instead of getting one windfall at tax time but struggling the other months.

I'm only getting about 400.00 from federal (last year I owed $5.00) but I'd rather use/save that money myself during the year, instead of the government using it (and interest free, no doubt).

thanks guys, i adjusted my withholdings when dh got custody. we're covered now and i don't have to worry about the electricity being shut off or anything, but we're still going through with the cash-out refi to get rid of the credit card debt and all that crappy interest. once that goes through, with our income/withholdings the way they are we'll be just fine indeed.
