OT: Did you know Easter is a gift getting opportunity for adults?
So Easter comes, our kids get baskets from the "Easter bunny" (me). Nothing major, just some candy and mints.
DH flat out asks me, "What did you get me for Easter? Nothing?"
DH got me a tiny stuffed animal ($3) and a bag of candy I like.
I didn't get DH candy because he keeps complaining about his weight (he's easily 60 pounds overweight) AND I discovered a candy bar stash in his underwear drawer. He needs no more candy, and he agreed with me.
A stuffed animal seems like a weird gift for a grown man. (Frankly it's a weird gift for a grown woman, but I would never say that to his face.)
And then Dh starts listing all the things I "could" have gotten him for an Easter present.
Did I miss something that Easter is a gift-getting holiday for adults? In the past I've just gotten him some candy he likes.

No, it is not a "gift"
No, it is not a "gift" holiday for adults. He needs to suck it up, rub some dirt in it and move on. Childish...
I spend a lot of my life
I spend a lot of my life looking at DH with absolutely a blank expression on my face. Behind that I'm thinking, "Don't bite. Don't bite. Be the bigger person." But I just don't know what to say to him some times!
And then the man who said he
And then the man who said he didn't want/need candy for Easter proceeded to eat the remainder of a bag of chocolate I used to fill eggs, as well as most of the chocolate out of BD11's basket when she wasn't looking. :jawdrop:
Then DD gave me some of her
Then DD gave me some of her candy and SO her Cadbury eggs because she knows he loves them.
How sweet!
Wow. I have the same blank
Wow. I have the same blank look I think.
DH and I don't usually
DH and I don't usually exchange gifts on Valentines Day, much less Easter. :?
I thought eating the left
I thought eating the left over candy after you were done stuffing all the eggs with the gift!
DH is happier now that we only stuff 80 or so, we used to fill 250 eggs before and that was just pointless because the kids could never eat all that candy and not to mention annoying to hide them all! lol
I only do 12 eggs per kid so
I only do 12 eggs per kid so there's quite a bit of candy left over. Well, there would have been.
New one on me. Next year give
New one on me. Next year give him a Jane Fonda workout video.
Hahahahahahaha
Hahahahahahaha
LOL! Why wait? Gift him with
LOL!
Why wait? Gift him with it now with a belated Easter card.
Have you gotten him Easter
Have you gotten him Easter presents in the past??
I love to give gifts and I generally get gifts for BS5 AND DH for Thanksgiving (just something small because I'm "thankful" for them), birthdays Christmas and Valentines. But I have never given DH anything for Easter??
I'm dying to know what your DH thought you could have gotten him???
Just a bag of candy, nothing
Just a bag of candy, nothing significant. Like I said, I don't see Easter as a holiday where adults get gifts?
He suggested cycling socks or workout shorts. So I guess a step in the right direction in terms of his health, but... again... gifts for an adult at Easter?
OMG........the Easter gift
OMG........the Easter gift giving bullshit has officially pushed me out of my tree.
wat.
wat.
No, you do not get adults
No, you do not get adults gifts for Easter, you do not get nieces and nephews gifts for Easter, you do not get any kid more than one basket. Whomever has visitation for Easter gives the basket. NO KID NEEDS TWO BASKETS. That is just dumb.
No one other than my mom has ever given me a basket and that has not happened since I was maybe under 11 years old. She probably stopped once we knew there was no Easter bunny giving out hard boiled chicken eggs. LOL
In the past I have always put the baskets for skids and DD together. I always did a basket for H with the left over candy because I am a big kid and I love doing stuff like this but in ten years no one has ever put one together for me and no one gives me a gift just for being awesome on Easter. No skids or DD baskets as they are all grown. I got to do a basket for my 7 month old GD with 4 outfits, a pair of shoes and a baby toothbrush.
My DH always gave me a
My DH always gave me a Hyacinth at Easter, but he would say it's from the boys. This year I gave him a small package of jelly beans (he loves them) and I just happened to see a package of these coffee treats and decided to put that with the jelly beans in a little easter basket for him. It's nothing special because on occasion I will buy DH jelly beans out of the blue. Of course, this year DH didn't get me the Hyacinth. Huh.
So if you were my husband
So if you were my husband your response should have been:
You didn't get me a gift for Easter? I think a hyacinth or two or three would be a great Easter gift.
Then stare at him until he smacks his head and runs right out to buy you that hyacinth.
I think that's what DH expected. He's still waiting for me to scurry on down to the store.
