My BIL is a cop and my father was a cop for 18 years before he retired from the force. They both have said that what the evidence of events show they would have reacted the same way Wilson reacted. My BIL made a comment yesterday that nearly had me in tears. "No one cares about how many cops are killed every day." He actually feels that way. That no one cares if a cop is killed, but people protest when a cop defends himself.

Watching the news last night and this morning.... one thing made me scratch my head...

They were protesting police brutality and heavily criticizing the militarized stance the police force took during the first riots in August. Then this morning they were criticizing the police force and National Guard for toning down their "stance" which resulted in burning vehicles, buildings, uncontrolled looting, and rioting.

Which way do they want it?

I wasn't there...I can't say whether or not I agree with the jury's decision. The one thing I can say is that all the rioting, regardless of who is doing it, is ridiculous!! Even Michael Brown's family has said they do not want to "fight violence with violence" Those who are angry and rioting are not doing Mr. Brown's memory or his family any good.

I was raised by a police officer. I have always had respect for the law, sadly not many people do anymore.
Are their bad poice? Of course there are, there is bad in every thing. Are there racist police, I'm sure there are, but I'm also sure that for every 1 racist white police officer there is also 1 black racist police officer. I've also seen women police go way over the top with how they handle prisoners because they feel they have to prove something.
I've heard people call police pigs, and curse at them, yelling at them. I read yesterday a new trend was when a police officer has arrested you, tell everyone he touched you in a sexual manner.
Police officers are given the right to use deadly force, we have given them the right to do so. How is any police officer supposed to go to work and do his or her job correctly to protect us if they are now scared they will go to prison for it, or be labeled a racist, or rapist, or anything else? This country is heading in a bad direction.

What I don't get is why people of color, fight and protest and beg to be treated "equally" and then do things like this? It's kind of counterproductive eh?

I also think that even if the officer would have been indicted.. there STILL would have been looting, rioting, and people acting the fool as a "celebration"

There really is no hope for humanity..

Most people today are as bad as the KKK Southerners back in the first half of the 20th century.

Where are all the protests about African Americans fatally shooting other African Americans? When there is black on asian or black on white crime, why is that hushed and silenced by the mainstream media?

Problem is there are scads of evidence showing that the Gentle Giant (TM) attacked the officer and did not comply after he committed strong arm robbery. The only one who said that his hands were up was his partner in crime who has obviously been discredited.

And for those who feel this is "payback" to the "man" since when have two wrongs made a right?

I think there should be protest BUT the people there just to cause problems

I'm sick and tired of police officers getting away with killing young black men. Was Brown wrong? Absolutely, but he didn't deserve to die for trying to be a bad ass. The officer could have used a Taser, pepper spray or hell shot him in the leg. Now the officer walks free. A few days ago he was shopping networks to decide which one will be the first to interview him. :sick: I really hope I missed it, but not once did I hear his lawyer send condolences to the Brown family in the statement that was released last night.

I think he might be a cop. IDK. Anyway, he sent his family upcountry for safety a while ago. It looks like he's staying to go to work in the

daytime and make sure they don't burn his damn house down at night.

I honestly have not seen the proof, therefore, I can't say if the decision was justified or not, however, REGARDLESS of the decision, what is happening is outrageous and wrong. Hey, I'm actually a minority. I have had someone in my job say some pretty nasty things about me ONLY because of where I am from. At one point there was a security guard I was always nice to and once he found out where I was from, he almost flipped. I continued to be nice to him although he seemed a bit distanced. One day he finally opened up and said to me "you know, all I know about YOUR people is X…and my son married someone just like you, or so I thought…but I have to say, you have really opened my eyes. I used to think everyone from there was X and now I can see that is not true." We continued to have a very good friendship and I get it. People from where I am from complain all the time about racism and believe me, I DO KNOW it exists and I have experienced it myself, however, behaving like a moron is NOT the solution. My view has always been PROVE PEOPLE WRONG! And I have NEVER been a racist, ever. I, at a very young age, was very involved in equal opportunity for all, NAACP, etc…but eventually I got SICK AND TIRED of the BS of OUR people complaining and yet doing exactly what everyone complained about and behaving like idiots.

To the people in Ferguson…when businesses LEAVE and you have to drive 30 minutes to get some darn milk, don't blame society, blame YOUR OWN PEOPLE…I know I do.

PS by the way, I was constantly harassed by other minorities in school because of where I was from…including African-Americans…go figure!

I heard an interview with someone last night. He is an African American and they asked him if he was scared to be a black man in America. His answer was priceless: "I am not afraid and my sons are not afraid. I am also not afraid FOR my sons. I think that I would be scared to be a black THUG in America because you WILL get taken out or taken to jail. But I am NOT scared to be a black MAN in America."

Personally, I think that the officer reacted the same way to this incident as he would have if the guy punching him was Hispanic, Asian or Caucasian. If you don't want run ins with the cops, don't break the law. And if you DO have a run-in with a cop, for Heaven's sake, DO WHAT THE OFFICER SAYS!
