Omg- just saw my skid15 handcuffed and shackled...
Talk about being in the right place at the right time. We have a very small county. I'm over at the courthouse several times a month due to work puposes as part of our drug court. So today I head over there and as I am walking up the 3 flights of stairs I look up and see someone who looks like my mil sitting on the bench by the courtroom. I go into my meeting, but curiosity gets the best of me and I go out to get a drink at the water fountain. Yep, I confirm its her. I see she's sitting with two other people but I didn't get a good look.
So go back to my meeting. Find out they are doing juvenile court so our stuff will be running late. One of the guys commented that there was a little kid out there who didn't even look like he was 13. So we finish up and I am walking out of our room and see the back of ss- he looked to be handcuffed and shackled. He was dressed all in khaki- maybe that make kids wear khaki instead of orange?
Then I turn and see my mil and bm walking out of the courtroom wiping away tears?
I texted and told him but now can't get ahold of him. I am just flabbergasted. I don't really know why. We know he was going back to court on a probation violation- but to see him handcuffed and shackled- wow. Just wow. I even felt sorry for him for the tiniest second.
I knew he hadn't been in school the last 2 days - as his attendance report says he isn't- but the were strange codes listed and I had no idea what they meant.
I was disgusted by bm playing the bm role. She kicked him out two years ago and with the exception of last month she sees him every 3 months or so when she feels like it. She pays no child support. But that does answer my musings about how they could even have a hearing on a juvenile without a parent present. She apparently has been the parent present this whole time.
Again just amazed at it all- and figured there was a reason that I was meant to see it.

Here as well. My thought was that he was actually arrested a few days ago - hence his absence from school and that this was a hearing- possibly one already scheduled for his probation revocation. The only thing we know for certain that he did was posess paraphinilia back in January. There is no way that this is the only thing that got him sent to detention. We just really have no idea what else he might have done.
Dh had pretty much a
Dh had pretty much a nonreaction.
Idk if bm or mil saw me- I would think they would have had to? I was directly across from them twice and then just 20 ft away from them to the side a 3 rd time. Although perhaps they were so overcome by emotion they weren't paying attention to what was going on around them. I'm sure if they did see me they are probably raising hell- because it is not feasible to them that I might have a life- they are the center of the universe and they surely think I was there whispering into the judges ear to throw the book at ss.
Doesn't your DH have a right
Doesn't your DH have a right to the info? I realize a juvie record isn't going to be available to the public, but I would think a custodial parent would be able to petition access to the charges/sentence info.
(I've got ZERO legal background - this is me just thinking of how it SHOULD be?)
And while I know you're a little in shock, I'm of the thought that I would RELISH seeing my SS finally paying for all his stupid behaviors...

Yes dh certainly has a right
Yes dh certainly has a right to this information. Truthfully I am not even sure of the legalities of them having these hearings without his custodial parent being present or even notified. I'd think that would be something the state would HAVE to do.
