Missed it by ..... half a point.
His mom and I caught up with SS-30 recently. We are coordinating an upcoming vacation to Kauai. Next month he will be going with us for a week. We are all excited about it. We have not had a family vacation together in a number of years.
The USAF E-7 line number promotion list just came out.... SS was not on it. This is his first cut at E-7. He missed a line number.... by half a point.
My several retired Sr Military NCO employees were all frustrated for him. Their consensus is that it is less frustrating to miss it by a big margin than by half a point. Though they all said that being that close makes getting the promotion next year far more likely if he continues his high levels of performance.
He is okay with it. He tends to consider himself to be not ready for promotions when he is up for them for the first time. His introvert under confident perspective... he definately does not get from me.
His mom and I are very proud of him.

Unfortunately
That's life, we all screw up, wishing we could do it over again. Hopefully it's a learning experience. Next time he will be 5 points or more to the good
He has it in the bag next
He has it in the bag next year!
Have fun on that trip, sounds wonderful!
He should pin on his roof a few months after his 13th service
anniversary.
His mom and I are very proud of him and are looking forward to our first family vacation since before he enlisted in 2011.
