It's bio mom's weekend Woohoo!

Today is Friday and it is my SD12's weekend at her mother's. For 2 stress free nights I get to feel like I am welcome and comfortable in my own home.  Does anyone else feel this way and does this make me a bad person?!?  Probably both are true.  I hate that I like it when she is gone, but dammit it feels good.  We are planning on taking our 4 year old to Boo at the Zoo if the rain holds off.  It will be nice to spend some time with him without worrying what she is going to do to ruin the day.  My BS16 plays his last football game of the season tonight which I am both excited and bummed about.  We don't do any winter sports in our family so I love my hibernation period of movies and relaxing at home.  He plays H.S. baseball, travel ball, local summer league, and football.  So from mid-Feb-November my life as a sports mom is non-stop.  My BD13 plays softball, but she isn't so intense about it.  My BD14 was thinking about trying out for basketball which begins Monday, and I was selfishly hoping she wouldn't and spoil my winter down time.  She called me from her dad's last night to let me know that Biology was stressing her out too much and that she didn't want to add basketball to her schedule (Yay!).  <--Not yay that she is stressed about Biology but yay she isn't adding to our winter schedule.  I am ready to enjoy this weekend and make some fall treats and watch some Halloween movies.  I bought the book The Haunting of Hill House to read before we begin watching the Netflix series, so if it is rainy I forsee a weekend of couch snuggles and naps for all of us.

I feel like I can breathe again when SD leaves. No it doesnt make you a bad person, it's the same as when I babysit someone's kids even if I like the kids it's kind of a relief when they leave and I wouldn't want them there all the time. Enjoy your weekend! Also that Netflix series is really good - I'm thinking I should get the book and read it too.

I read at night, so I am hoping I don't create nightmares for my self lol.  Although I barely get through 5 pages and I am snoring with my iPad in my hand.

You're not wrong in how you feel. You work hard and always on the grind so its only natural to want some well deserved time to yourself and with your family. I can imagine the relief you feel with SD gone and anyone would feel that way if the person is a pain in the @ss.

Its amazing the difference in the air when that person is gone, is like a weight lifted from your shoulders. That negative energy is gone and there is no more tension. I feel the same exact way when my H's daughter is not here.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend planned, enjoy!

I used to get annoyed that BM would have SS every weekend especially since she leaves him with a babysitter often. It took some years but I got over it. Now I love having weekends with me and BS where I can go and do whatever I want. It's like having a freedom I didn't realize I lost during the week back.
