America's Navy - A Global Force for Cheese and Rice You Lasted 3 Measly Days

So, H's son is officially done with Navy Bootcamp.  I know what you are all thinking - it's a SKID- you all think he is so smart and so special that they just graduated his butt in 6 days, but no, he 'didn't meet the requirements' and is being sent home.  He signed up, spent a month prior to bootcamp trying to back out, begrudgingly went, lasted 3 days before hurting his leg (yeah-right) and being taken out on medical, rest for 3 days while they run tests, was to be put back in when he started complaining about his leg and his headache and he has a cold and and and.... never went back in.  I guess they are officially saying he 'could not complete the baseline PT', but they probably don't have a category called 'was too much of a whiny little sh!t and no self respecting member of our fine military should be stuck on a boat with him changing his diapers and holding his hand in the dark'.

H came home the other day to tell me that he spoke to PrisonMom and they are both very upset that their little spawn said his leg hurt and the mean ol' Navy wouldn't give him enough time or accomaodations.  Unaware that the Navy has the adult version of a g*d damn IEP for snowflakes that just need a little leeway on requirements, a 1:1 aide to piggy back their butts through bootcamp and a dark cozy cry room when they miss their mommies, I inadvertantly blurted out "well, I guess it's better he find out now that he doen't have what it takes then when he is in a warzone with a minor injury he can't muscle through."  Well, don'tcha know H doesn't see it that way.  Spawn was hurt, legit hurt.  Hurt in a way that no doctor could pin point any diagnosis, but legit hurt non the less.  Maybe they didn't have the right doctors.... or do the right tests.... (and then the best one)... even if there was no injury, they could have given him more than 3 days to rest before saying they would put him back in PT.

Look, I have kids.  I get it, you want to look out for them.  You want them to succeed.  But hell, my kids are 4 and almost 2... when they half a$$ a commitment or obligation (in as much as toddlers have commitments or obligations) I hold them to it.  They make me proud, they disappoint me.  They are so very smart and sometimes they pull some really stupid stuff.  I love them to itty bitty pieces in a way I never knew I could love.... but they are not perfect.

I had to pour myself a giant glass of wine in my novelty cup to make it through H's pity party and keep my eyes closed so he couldn't see me staring at the top of the inside of my skull.  Sigh, oh wine, you're the only one who understands.  Lol.

Rofl. I get it. Damn mean Navy! SS is good, they just aren't accomodating him like they should. If they would just let him do it how HE wants it would be ok! I mean, he should get to decide, right?!

Lilywen's picture

I agree.  The least they could do was give him a participation trophy.  They wouldn't even do that.

Dear god. My DH would die of embarrassment if SS got kicked out of the Navy for faking a leg injury (which my SS absolutely would do - if he actually let go of his mother's hand long enough to even enlist in the Navy).

Lilywen's picture

My H has so much about his son to die of embarassment over I would be making BANK in life insurance and going to his funeral every dang day.

tog redux's picture

Lol. My SS18 is similarly embarrassing. But my DH doesn't have the rose-colored glasses, thank GOD.

This gave me a damn good laugh! Tell DH maybe next time he should join the coast guard, I hear their bootcamp is just a day in a pool to see who can float and who can't.

Lilywen's picture

Yeah right.  When the Coast Guard didn't give him arm floaties for the pool, H and PrisonMom would lament the unfairness of it all.  Oh, and spawn would probably drown because he is a lazy little shit who puts forth the effort of a rock.  Hmmmmmm *googles Coast Guard recruiting office number

Lilywen's picture

I certainly don't think that this is meant to mock the Coast Guard, or any branch.  They all have very rigorous training and standards for recruits. I think it was sarcasm.

Heck, I'm surprised they even gave him 3 days to get better and try again.

Don't worry, the next thing DH will complain about is how they're keeping him for 1-2 weeks before sending him home. And then that he isn't allowed on base anywhere and has to wear a special armband that signifies his failure. And how he has to do chores in his barracks while he's "injured".

The Navy will be in no hurry to send him home, and they will be in no hurry to coddle him. They have other things to worry about.

I suggest buying a case of that wine. It's only going to get worse before it gets better.

Lilywen's picture

I was shocked that the Navy keeps them around as long as they do... H said something about a separation ship... so at least I know he is in the company of his fellow failures and not getting his feefees hurt by the real brave men and women.

lieutenant_dad's picture

Keep in mind that he WILL be around others who wanted VERY BADLY to be in the military but cannot now for some reason. Some people really DO get hurt in basic and the military ships them home, either until they recover and can re-enlist, or to be considered never fit for duty.

Just wait until he comes across some young man or woman who has prepped for the military for years who actually broke a leg or had something else happen and they flatten SS (either verbally or physically) for his whining.

Actually, fantasize about that.

Lilywen's picture

You are right. I never thought about that. There are good men and women on that 'separation ship' who were unfortunately injured or sick. I do hope they make their way to their calling and I regret implying their failure. Just makes me sick that resources were wasted on this individual who wasn't cut from the right cloth to begin with and that the hubs is implying the service should be more accommodating.

Rosé!!!

Guess they need to invent a new branch of the military. .  . Skid Snowflake Force.

Bootcamp consists of:

Snapchat/Instagram/Texting/Fortnite

Recruits can emoji and avatar the enemy to a  pulp

Competition to see who can say Daaaddeeeeeeee the longest  (for SDs) and "Moooommmmmm Saaaaays" (for SSs)

Reveille is at noon

Junk/fast food will be served 24/7 at the canteen/mess hall

Lilywen's picture

You take that back! Right now! I refuse to live in a world where I have to listen to H brag about his son the 4 star general.

PT was not a new video game.

Well he is at least going to get a Purple Heart for this, I hope.  It wouldn't be fair otherwise (written in bold sarcasm font)

Reminds me of when SS was in his late 20s and decided that he going to be a fighter pilot in the Air Force.  Sure. SS spent 3 1/2 years in Juvie for some horrible unnamed crime.  Never finished high school.  Had multiple arrests for violence - beating up an old person and lots of domestic violence.  More drugs and alcohol than anyone could imagine.  At this point in time had NEVER had a driver's license - although multiple DUI offenses, etc.

Sure - a recruiter's dream.  Send that boy straight to Officer's Training School and give him own fighter plane.

Lilywen's picture

Ok... I just died laughing about the purple heart. When it gets here I will frame in on a shadow box with his discharge letter and hang it, prominently, in my living room. I'm so proud... *wipes tear

You're guess is as good as mine.... Astrophysics?  Neurosurgery?  Truck stop where PrisonMom works?  The sky is the limit when you dream big.
