UGH…just found out that my ex is in prison. I think it is a substance abuse prison so that may actually be a good thing. I only found out because someone told my DH then I looked it up on the net. I only found his SID# and his TDCJ#. I have no clue what these are for.

I hate having to tell the kids about this. (if I even do tell them) They have not talked in years, but it is still their father. My kids are 23 and 19.

Do any of you think of what it might have been like of your ex ended up NOT being an asshole? My and my ex were together over 20 years. I do not love him any longer, but still feel sorry for him and the kids. Him because he used to be such a great guy…and the kids because they should have had a great father.

Anywho…any idea how I can find out why he is in prison? Just because I am nosey.

In NY, you can look an inmate up and get the charges... it doesn't give specifics (no details about the event that got them there) but it does list all the charges, the sentence, possible parole etc. Go to Google and put "Inmate lookup (state you are in)". Something should come up...

Google for the Texas Department of Corrections website, if that's a reference to Texas.

I feel sorry for my kids. My XH is not a criminal or complete deadbeat - but he is a financial disaster with a huge case of entitement.

I feel sorry for my kids, because someday they are going to realize that their father willingly chose not to support them financially and put himself first always. They may come to realize that he always was able to ensure he had the latest greatest of everything, vacations and treats - and that he didn't put a penny away for their futures.

For this I am sad.
