Dear Valued Users,
It's with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of StepTalk.org on August 31st, 2025.
This decision wasn't an easy one. For over twenty years, StepTalk has been a source of support for stepparents around the world! However, over the years, the costs associated with maintaining and upgrading the site to remain secure, meet current standards and maintain availability have become unsustainable.
We are incredibly grateful for your support, contributions and the community you've helped us build. Your engagement has made StepTalk.org a special place and we cherish the memories and connections made here.
We would especially like to thank Aniki for volunteering to be a moderator and for caring so much.
Thank you for being a part of our journey and we wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Dawn and The StepTalk Team

In VA, it is based on what is guaranteed and/or consistent. Years ago when CS for my daughter was being calculated , I asked for my ex-husbands overtime to be included. He didnt want it to cause he claimed it wasnt guaranteed. However, the judge did allow a certain amount of it since paystubs proved he was indeed getting it consistently .

College is court mandated in our state at the CS percentage split. The higher she can jack up DH income the better her split. She would have no compromise. Good thought though. I think our saving grace is that she has mandated current income. Her income has gone down from last year. His current stubs will show no OT or profit sharing

Does he pay taxes on it? Many times, courts use tax returns so they capture ALL sources of income.

Bms income changed, so she wants current stubs, but the note to our attorney services said to go off year to date to include all OT and bonuses. There hasn't been either this year. However she didn't provide two stubs (second job). I find that funny.
How about travel/commute costs

What gets me is BM gas always
What gets me is BM gas always had a second job, and her that income does not factor. He's had one profit sharing check in the 15 yrs we have been dating. Seems we are a little money hungry.
I want what is fair to his son. But I don't think our family should have to change our lifestyle either. Dh hates OT and only works it to pay auto repairs or unforeseen items. He works it to pay half a skid request.
