My sock blog
Socks. That’s what we’re talking about here people. Socks. My Bio son (16) has these “name brand” socks. They have whatever logo on them and they cost about $15 a pair. He got them as gifts or buys them himself. With 4 teenage boys in the house I don’t put socks in drawers, I have a laundry basket on top of the dryer that I keep all of the matched socks in. The “special” socks do not go in there, my son keeps them in his room that he shares w SS17. Well SS17 has been wearing them. My son has repeatedly asked him not to. Main reason is if he wears them over to BM’s house he’ll never see them again. He talks to me about it and I tell him to talk to DH about it. So he does and I can hear the whole conversation. My son was not being a dick, he was politely asking DH to please ask SS17 to stop wearing his socks. My DH’s response is to get pissed at my son and tell him “They’re just socks!” My son just saids “never mind” and walk out of the room. Later my DH says he has to run out for something. He comes back with 2 bags of socks and hands them to SS17. WTF?? We have plenty of socks for the boys here, that wasn’t the point! Passive aggressive much? I just hate how my DH can turn a simple conversation into some sort of injustice for his kids. It was completely ridiculous.

Taking someone else's socks
Taking someone else's socks is WRONG, regardless of the brand or style. Your dipshit husband went out and bought his son socks thinking that would solve the issue, but he obviously doesn't understand.
Get you son some sort of lockbox, since your husband isn't going to address the problem.
hmmm...wow! 15 dollar socks?

I really couldn't agree more!
I really couldn't agree more! Please don't get me wrong, I did not ask about what socks they were because I don't believe you are 100% right or your kid has no right to have whatever he wants...I really asked cause I wanted to know about the socks and try to see if I could write a page about it and find them cheaper lol really
Charly, those are exaclty
Charly, those are exaclty what I'm talking about. I know it's silly, just socks. But every kid should have the right to have thier own stuff.
Yep, I agree! My SS has them
Yep, I agree! My SS has them in every color and he bought them with his own money, they are his. No one else should be wearing them. Maybe tell your SS that DS has athletes foot, so he might not want to wear his socks anymore..
They should not be sharing
They should not be sharing socks. THat is gross!!!
My ds13 just came to me AGAIN
My ds13 just came to me AGAIN with the complaint that ss14 keeps wearing his underwear. God, it pisses me off. He has his own underwear, in fact, dh recently purchased him some about a month ago. But he wears my ds's. It's nasty as hell and my ds has asked several times now for him to stop wearing them.
In fact, now that you have
In fact, now that you have mentioned it-I beleive dh went out and purchased those for ss after the last time ds complained about him wearing them. Why are these men such idiots?
I wonder if these dad's would
I wonder if these dad's would change their tune if it were THEIR socks being stolen?
Yes, Maybe I will tell ss
Yes, Maybe I will tell ss taht if he cannot locate his own undergarments he can only "borrow" from dh.
Wow, how hard is it just to
Wow, how hard is it just to man up and tell his kid not to wear other people's clothing??
UGH!!! He'd rather act like a fool and go spend money than to upset his kid. This amazes me to no end!
My skids take my bio’s stuff
My skids take my bio’s stuff all the time and my DH acts like it’s no big deal. If the shoe were on the other foot and it was one of MY kids taking their stuff… boy, look out! A family member got them all backpacks for xmas. My youngest SS13 decided that he didn’t like the one my brother picked out for him and decided to switch it with my BS14’s without asking and put all of his stuff in it. When my BS14 got mad, DH acted like he was the one in the wrong? My SS13 doesn’t have an ipod and all of the other kids do. (My kid’s grandma on their dad’s side bought them for them) DH is always trying to make my kids share with SS13 and gets mad when they don't.Um...hello? They are not babies and you don’t share ipods! The last time he got so pissed I screamed at him “ Well, if you’re so upset about it, why don’t you buy him one?” Blank stare back at me…. Geez! Not everything in a family is “community property”.
My dh used to do this for
My dh used to do this for ss14 as well. A few years back they all had nintendo ds's. SS14 had one too, but would always forget his at his bm's. He would go check to see which of my bio kids wasnt using theirs at teh moment and then make them share with ss14. Hello, to me, it was a lesson to learn about to remember to bring things with you if you want to use them. Why would he ever bother to remember his own things if he can use someone else's. Dh also used to let him wear my ds13's clothes all the time-because again, ss couldnt remember to bring his own. Dh has grown alot over the years, but still acts stupid sometimes.
I concur on the SmarWool
I concur on the SmarWool socks. I have several pair. I wear them when running, hiking and on weekends.
I go with high quality dress socks during the work week. My favorite are the Bamboo polymer socks. Soft, breathable and last a very long time.
Buy a foot locker for your
Buy a foot locker for your son to keep his socks and other personal items in and have him keep it locked.
End of problem.
This is what I lived with at military school. Personal items went in to a footlocker that went at the end of your rack and it was locked. Sr. NCOs or Officer's got two footlockers.
If your SS and DH get offended then you have the perfect opportunity to tie the footlocker to SS-17's behavior and to point out to your DH that if his kid could be trusted locking up the socks would not be necessary.
Note: The cheap cardboard Walmart lockers are worthless. You need to get a quality footlocker. They have molded plastic ones available that are pretty good that run ~$25.
