SD14's text to SO about her party
SD14’s birthday party is on Saturday…she sent SO a text today saying…
“Please tell Anywho & Gma & any other adults that you know not to say anything about how I care for my animals. Everytime I see ya'll I’m told that Lucy is an inside dog…NO SHE ISN’T everytime she’s in the house, she barks at the door til we let her out so does Charlie. If anyone says any ill to me ya’ll will be told to leave. I don’t know what ya’ll see that’s so wrong…Just so ya’ll know, everyone else thinks my animals are SPOILED!
Alrighty then…I will say that I do not agree with the way their animals are kept but have never voiced this out loud to her or her sister. Rednecks don’t listen to a word of reason with regard to animals anyway, so why waste my breath. MIL does go on about Lucy (basset hound) who up until 2 yrs ago, lived in the house…now when we see her she looks pathetic begging for attention in a make shift pen in the TX summer heat…I’ve personally only seen the dog twice since meeting SO. Charlie is a lab puppy who was purchased after her 2 yr old great dane (also an outside dog) died of mysterious causes (heartworms anyone??)…although her NON vet BM says it’s a heart attack.
SO called SD14 back laughing at her as neither he nor I have ever said anything bad about her animals. He reminded her that I’ve done a lot of dog rescue & love animals but that I’ve asked her to not tell me about her animals & told her that I wouldn’t want to discuss her animals with her, much less at her party. I’ve been there a total of 5 times for pick up & drop off…that was plenty!
I would like to hang a poster around my neck stating:
I do not wish to discuss your earless rabbits, the pot bellied pigs that were left unattended & killed, the dogs your mother shot, the gazillion unfixed cats that keep on having CUTE kittens, the goat that was mauled by a dog, the dog that died of a “heart attack”, your grandparents breeding “farm”, your friends dogs who keep being “whores” so they have to kill the puppies…you get the picture…I know your pets are “spoiled rotten” so let’s just stick to the weather!
UGH! This party is going to be SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fun!

Her Grandma (MIL) has made mention about the basset hound a number of times, as has my SO. I did ask when she got the great dane if she had done any breed research, that's all I've ever said about her dogs...I have asked that she not discuss her animals with me due to the fact that I cannot condone how she cares for them (unfixed outdoor cats-creating a feral colony anyone??) & I don't think shooting dogs is funny (stray or not, it's illegal)!
I'm not holding my breath for any hope what-so-ever. Until she lives on her own, there isn't much she can do...but she's her redneck BM in training, so we'll see.

I discussed this party at BM's in one of my last blogs...SO asked that I go so I'm going to support him. This is the ONLY thing he's asked me to do with/for/about this hideous SD in about 2 years.
It irks me to see people with
It irks me to see people with pets mistreat them. Why have them if they're going to stay chained up in the backyard or outside in the summer heat/freezing winter weather? What purpose do they serve there?
I can't imagine sitting in my house enjoying the air-conditioning & seeing my dogs roast outside under the sun...or even in an enclosure I know will just contain the heat. I couldn't watch them try to hide under a tree to get out of the pouring rain or curl up in the shrubs trying to keep warm in freezing temps.
On another note, if my DH got such a post from either of his children dictating what he was & wasn't allowed to discuss, he'd be sending a card to wish them a happy birthday & a "hope to see you soon". He doesn't follow orders from children.
I agree with the separate parties. We've done joint with Dh's kids & it's terribly uncomfortable. Have your own party at your house, & you can discuss anything you wish...be it weather or how to appropriately care for your pets.

me, personally, i wouldn't say a word about the animals, but i damn sure would call the cops/humane society on their hillbilly asses for animal mistreatment......
Sadly, nothing going on at
Sadly, nothing going on at their home makes the SPCA's 3+ hour trip worth it. There's no proof of the dogs that BM Redneck shot so no charges will be pressed. The county they live in doesn't even have an AC facility!
As someone involved in rescue, I'm sure you have seen many situations where what was going on was WRONG but nothing was done about it simply because the animals had food, water & shade.
I wish that responsible pet ownership was the law, but it isn't.
I plan on sitting on the porch, having my music playing via ear buds (drowning out the noise of animals & party goers), watching my resident Skids turn into cretins & having enough alcohol to ensure that I am numb. I'll probably end chatting a bit with MIL (who will HAVE to bring the basset up because that's just how she roles!)
The best possible outcome would be that we arrive...SD gets nasty then we leave as SO promised. Fingers crossed!

And if animal control will not do anything, perhaps you could sneak over when no one is at home or at night and drive them to a shelter? I am literally tearing up at your post. Thank you for doing anything that you can!!!!!!!!
