And this just makes me mad (yeast infection rant -- TMI warning)
FDH's ex called this morning to go pick up FSD3 from daycare at 8:45 AM because FSD3 was complaining that its itchy when she pees. When he didn't pick up, she called HIS mom to go get FSD3. For once, FMIL exhibited restraint by calling FDH FIRST to ask if it was OK -- so that part I'm not mad about.
What I'm mad about is...
1) FSD3 probably has another yeast infection. Why the hell does she need to be sent home from daycare for that? It's not like it's contagious, for goodness' sake.
2) Her BM is, what? Too stupid to notice? Too skittish to deal with her daughter's vagina? HOW COULD YOU NOT KNOW FSD3 HAD AN "ITCHY" PROBLEM THAT'S EASILY SOLVED WITH OVER-THE-COUNTER CREAM BEFORE TAKING HER TO DAYCARE?
3) BM wasn't even at work yet. Why couldn't SHE go back and pick FSD3 up? Goodness, at 8:45, she'd probably only been at daycare 15 EFFIN' MINUTES before getting the call.
4) Even if BM can't get out of work to go pick up FSD3 for fear of being fired, why doesn't she call HER OWN DAMN SUPPORT SYSTEM to cover for her? I get that she called FSD3's dad FIRST and I can appreciate that -- but if he's not around, she should default to her OWN mom, her OWN friend, babysitter, etc. Not her ex-MIL.
5) If it's true that FSD3 has another yeast infection, FDH might have to have words about hygiene and sleeping clothes and proper words for lady bits. Last time this happened, FSD3 insisted her "wee wee" was "bleeding" and I had to stand IN the bathroom with FDH and a hand mirror explaining that, no, YOUR VAGINA is not bleeding, it's just infected -- see how red and gooey it is? (I know, yuck.) This is what happens to vaginas sometimes, especially if we make it a habit to sleep in panties or diapers when it's hot outside and we sweat so much. Or if we use adult soap because FDH ran out of baby soap AND HASN'T REPLACED IT YET BECAUSE "IT'S NO BIG DEAL."
Seriously, FDH and his ex are both completely ignorant of female genitalia and its proper functions. Which probably explains why they had an unsatisfactory sex life fraught with UTIs and yeast infections, which is probably a contributing factor to the divorce. Honestly, people, say it with me: VA-GIN-A. There! NOBODY DIED. Nobody MAGICALLY became a prostitute! If you're raising a little girl, you need to get her on a first-name basis with her lady junk ASAP because lord knows pop culture won't do it for you the way it does with man junk.

I am so sorry that you have
I am so sorry that you have to deal with this crap. Why can't people teach there kids about hygine, is it so hard to have a talk about a childs vagina with them. My mom never had a problem telling me what went on down there and how to make sure I was clean. Don't these people relize if they just taught there kid this stuff now it will save the kid a lot of hazzle later in life. I just don't understand how a little girl could get that many yeast infections, if baffles me.

Briarmommy, ditto this! If a parent can't teach their own child to properly clean their genitals, or clean the child's genitals until they are of a sufficient age to handle it themselves, who on Earth do they think is going to do it? The "Wee Wee" fairy?
I'm thinking the yeast
I'm thinking the yeast infections are each situational. I've known of only three in a year -- one was clearly related to antibiotics, one occurred after bed wetting started and FDH and his ex stuck FSD3 back in diapers at night for an entire week (I warned FDH about what could happen and got the smug satisfaction of "you were right"), and now this one. Which might have to do with 1) the adult soap problem or 2) the sudden weather change around here that makes everything so hot. Few houses have A/C and FSD3 loves to sleep in both panties and sleeping pants or leggings -- which could easily cause a sweaty vagina, which is just one step off from a yeast infection. It doesn't help that she and her father both have crazy-sensitive skin.
I love your post and can
I love your post and can totally relate. My FSD9 is completely uneducated about sex, sexuality and genitalia. Why are parents surprised later in life when a child makes a stupid decision, what else can they do when they have been given zero informationon the topic.
