Skids aged 50+

This makes me laugh, but it's really not that funny.

I have an elderly neighbour (age 73) whom I've beeen friendly with over the past 8 years. During a recent visit in her home, she told me a bit about her stepmothering experience. Her husband is 15 years older than her, he was a widower when they married and she helped raise 3 skids. Nowadays, she and husband don't seem to have such a great connection with skids who are now in their 50's, they also have 2 biokids (now in their 30's) from their own marriage. Mrs Neighbour actually invited me over there to help her delete an e-mail from her inbox. I guess, given her age, she's not that au fait with working a computer. She was receiving a house guest and didn't want him to be able to read this particular e-mail. So, this lead to a conversation about guests in our homes/privacy, quite step-related really. Which lead to her telling me that her SD50+ had recently asked her father (Mrs Neighbour's husband) to give her some money to help pay for a new house. The father declined. Then SD50+ replied how unfair it was that his wife (Mrs Neighbour) had been given so much by him and yet she, daughter age 50+, didn't have that much in comparison.

Does this sound familiar???? Just put some grey wigs on these entitled SD's and it all sounds the same. Maybe it never ends.................

I LOVE that he said "No"!!!!

In our situation, I'm the one in the better financial situation. ADULT SD gets mad because her FATHER gets stuff from me, and she doesn't. Ummmmm....?????!!!!!

Well, it does definitely get better in some respects when they turn 18 as they're not in your space so much. In their case, the daughter lives far far away from them, so I guess they only have to deal with the odd harassing phone call. Although maybe my neighbour is STILL dealing with resentment, anger, bitterness et al with her DH - I don't know lol
