Modern Day TV-Kind of a poll
When BF daughter is in the living room...she is watching some Disney or Nickelodeon show. I watch them sometimes and I don't know if it is just me but aren't many of these shows encouraging disrespect, bad behavior, and rudeness? I swear every show she watches has some kid being a brat and it all turning out to be cute...Please...am I just being old?? Or do other people agree with me?

In agreement here. Even the kids make comments about the behaviors of some of the issues, my youngest two are 13 and 10. Neither chooses to watch disney or nick as of late. They like discovery and the history channel better. I really dont think that disney is any better than MTV sometimes.

I see a lot of ICarly and Wizzards of Waverly Place, and Spongebob at my house due to my two SDs. I dont usually have a huge problem with it but there have been a cpl episodes that annoyed me particularly on ICarly. Usually I just point it out to them as pure fantasy and make note of the fact that they would NEVER get away with (whatever stupid thing character did and got away with) and they usually just laugh and say oh yeah I know its so fake.
I am pretty much anti-censorship (within reason so please dont flame me for this statement, I dont feel the need to elaborate right now) so I try to just point out reality instead of telling them they cant watch it.
South Park is not meant for
South Park is not meant for kids at all - never was.
Agreed...I don't so much mind
Agreed...I don't so much mind Hannah Montana because there might be bad behavior but a consequence is shown for it and the characters have remorse. That one girl character on Phineas and Ferb the sister I think is a clone of my BF daughter.
The only TV service we have
The only TV service we have is the 4 channels our digital antenna will pull. Cable doesn't run in the country & satellite signal only works during the few months the leaves are off of the trees. We do well with DVD's. We get the ones we want & there are no commercials!
We don't do TV either. We
We don't do TV either. We haven't had one in 3 years.
Nobody even misses it.
We do have an extensive DVD collection that we watch on a BIG wide screen computer screen that is set up where the TV used to be.
I just saw an ICarly episode
I just saw an ICarly episode where the blonde (Sam I think) was being very disrespectful and demeaning to elderly people. I thought it was absolutely ridiculous.
Sunday nights are loaded with
Sunday nights are loaded with disrespect & completely inappropriate remarks with The Simpson's, Family Guy, American Dad, & The Cleveland Show. A lot of it is intended for adults, but the run starts at primetime. There are plenty of children looking for something to watch on TV then.
I agree completely but I wish
I agree completely but I wish SD12 watched these shows. She is more into anything on MTV, watch some of that and get back to me. I can't even begin to describe how inappropriate some of these shows are. I just ignore it. I don't allow my kids to watch much of it, we prefer more real stuff, crime shows, cooking challenges. It's one of the battles I choose not to engage in.
I remember being really shocked once when SD was 6, I spent the evening with DH and her and there they sat watching Jackass the movie.
