How do you do it?
Just curious about how some of you feel the distribution of chores is at your house.
First off…do you work outside the home?
Do you wash your DH’s clothes?
Do you wash your kids or skids clothes?
Who does the dishes at your house?
Who cooks the most?
Do you do yard work?
Do you combine pay and bills?
Me first. :o)
1…YES.
2…I only wash my clothes. Period! I stopped washing my kids clothes when they were about 11. If SS would have been with us back then, DH would have been washing his clothes.
3…everyone loads their own dishes after they eat. I am the only one that unloads the clean dishes. That is because I like where I put everything. If I left it up to the family, there would be plates and glasses mixed all over the place.
4…I cook the most, but that is not a lot. Lol we fend for ourselves mostly.
5…I mow the front yard and DH mows the back. We share all of the up keep.
6…we do NOT combine our pay and split most bills 50/50
on a side note…I do the sweeping and mopping and DH takes care of the big stuff like home repairs.
I am just curious, because it seems like a lot of us on here are doing the bulk of the work at home and I just wonder why.

I am the one who does all of the above, not DH. DH mows the lawn, i plant flowers. And i don't pay any bills.

Do you wash your kids or skids clothes? Sometimes - DH seems to do most of the laundry but everything is just put together - I should say that if SS needed a uniform washed right away or something DH would probably do it - also the skids have clothes that just stay at our house
Who does the dishes at your house? Dishwasher - we all put dishes in the dishwasher - whoever notices it needs started/emptied does it
Who cooks the most? DH probably
Do you do yard work? No, DH does it - I do the gardening
Do you combine pay and bills? Yes, we put a little money in separate accounts but then the rest goes to a joint account in which all bills are paid from
Both BF and I work full time.
Both BF and I work full time. He does the 'boy stuff' (garbage, mowing our 1-acre lawn, etc.) and I do the 'girl' stuff (cooking, dishes, cleaning the kitchen). Everyone does their own laundry. Communal areas are cleaned by whoever left the mess, though I usually grab dishes.

I am rather spoiled by DH, he does most the house work and all the cooking, even empties the cat box. He gets home before me and likes to have everything ready when I get home. He also feels like he should because I work a second part time job to pay off some certain items, so he says it's the least he can do since I work so hard. I am very lucky!

I'm a SAHM. I do EVERYTHING around the house. Cook, clean, laundry, you name it. But I figure it's only fair. If we were to send the kids to daycare, it would eat up my entire check. But when DH gets home, he helps out with the kids A LOT.

In my house. My BF cooks all the meals and deals with the outside of the house. I take care of the inside of the house. I do not like my BF to wash the clothes because he shrinks things LOL.
So yes I was my BF clothes, mine, my daughters and the skids clothes.

Side note. All the kids are made to pick up after themselves. The dishes are to be cleaned off and put in the sink and everyone brings the laundry into the laundry room. So the house is never that much to clean up. The kids have to clean up after themselves in thier bathroom. Wipe down the sinks put things away and bring out the trash from the bathroom. Which is the BD6 and SS5s job.

UGH, yes I do, because if I didn't it would probably NEVER get done!

Yes, because if I don't FH will only when there would be no clean ones left, and then he probably would wash them all wrong (colors not separated, etc.)

I do this too! I hate it too, if I didn't every dish in the house would be dirty all the time.

This is the only thing that I don't really do as I'm highly allergic to almost everything in the yard.

Me and FH make different salaries so of the household bills we each pay our percentage of them based on our percentage of the household income. As far as CS and skid stuff that is all on FH.
I feel like eventhough I'm the SM I do almost all of the chores around the house and do alot more for skids than my FH does. I had a break down the other week about this because I feel so overwhelmed sometimes! What I get is, "you should ask", why should I have to ask for help??? Shouldn't the house work as a team where everyone contributes instead of me cleaning up everyone's messes and running the house????

I take it you have the same experience of the skids doing the crappiest job at something so they won't be asked to do it again and guilty daddy thinking its ok since they tried. :sick: . I'm old school if you don't do it right the first time you will continue to do it until it is done right. My own kids are held to this same standard.

Since FH is the one who makes the money I hate to see him doing things in the house. He likes to cook, but I`m cleaning after him in the kitchen. I feel often as a combination of a babysitter and a cleaning lady so I can`t wait to get a job and get some independence. I depend on my FH totally so it`s hard to open my mouth when I have problems with the kids without feeling I`m not enough grateful for all the things he is doing for me

Do you combine pay and bills? No, I pay all my own bills and contribute an agreed upon amount to the household budget. SO makes a lot more that I do.
I do the picking about around the house and garbage gathering SO does the deep housecleaning. The kids have small daily chores.
I do NOT change the kitty litter!
They chore I detest the most is the transporting of the Skids. Because I work about 15 hours less a week, I do a lot of the transporting including driving them an hour to their dads e/o weekend..

I am old fashioned...I do the stuff around the house and he does the outside/car stuff. He does work longer hours than me and I don't mind doing it. I wouldn't mind doing anything for Princess either but she is so unappreciative, it is so hard to whistle while I work so to speak.

A friend of mine lived in
A friend of mine lived in Venezuela for a couple years and had a very similiar situation. She had a maid, driver, and gardener. She paid them 3 times what they would make doing anything other kind of work there and that was still very low on the payscale that we have here in America.

Who cooks the most? H, but that because he gets home first & the kids have to eat. I'm not sure if frozen skillet meals count as cooking though?

Do you combine pay and bills? Uh, that would be a big fat NO! I had too many assests & DH too much debt prior to marriage to do that. I didnt amass all these assets as a single middle-class wage earner by being foolish with my finances!
