Kind of OT- O.D.D.
So, talked to BM yesterday first time she has called SS4 in more than two weeks. First thing she asked was about Easter and what we are getting for SS's birthday. No how has he been, or what's been going on while I've been out partying...Anyway, so I start to tell her about the issues we have been having with SS (tantrums for no reason, screaming about everything, saying mean things, hitting, kicking, etc...) and tell her we are concerned he may have something medically wrong with him. I was thinking ADD, ADHD, along those lines...he doesn't sit still and doesn't have an attention span, etc. I have done a little research on them and he seemed to fit the bill there but I also read that they don't diagnose that until around age 6. Anywho, she told me very firmly he does not have ADHD and she knows all about it apparently because she grew up in foster care and saw a bunch of kids with it... Whatever. So then she tells me 'Maybe he has what I have...' 'Oh yeah, what's that?' 'I have ODD- Oppositional Defiant Disorder, I have had it since I was a kid and should be on meds but I just don't take meds anymore.''Oh okay, maybe we will look into that one then, thanks.'
Okay, first off...who waits until their kid is almost 5 years old before telling somebody what you have this freakin disorder that can be inherited?!?!?!? My Dh, her Ex had never heard of it, and had no clue she had that! We know she is BiPolar but why would you not say something before now? So, I looked into it last night, and sure enough the symptoms for that are more close to what he goes through so we will be calling the Doctor tomorrow to see about a referral to a child behavioral counselor because the counselor he sees now has not helped us one bit with the behavioral issues. So, keep your fingers crossed that maybe I have finally found the answer and can get the Mouth regulated and hopefully on the right track...

I wish you the best of luck.
I wish you the best of luck. I have been married to Dh for 4 years now and his youngest daughter lives with us. SD has made my life a living hell the last 3 years. We have taken her to 2 different Dr. for her behavioral problems and nothing had worked. Finally one of her teachers sugguested to me that we have her evaluated (neuropsychological testing). We finally were able to get her evaluated and got her diagnoses back. She was diagnosed with major depression, severe generalized anxiety, ADHD, ODD/Conduct Disorder and learning disabilites. The results were right on the money. We have her seeing a psychiatrist now, but not just any psych, someone with a MD PhD. Which does matter. The others wanted to see her every week and it wasn't to help her but to rack up the insurance payments and copays. My sugguestion is to really do your research on the doctor you choose. The are a lot of dr out there in it for the money. Unfortunately for us, we had to learn the hard way.
Thanks for the advice momma.
Thanks for the advice momma. I have a feeling we will be heading down that road shortly. I just hope it ends up being worth it and we find out what the problem is. Good luck with your SD!
