YSD turns 18 tomorrow. Still have to wait until she graduates in May for CS to be over but I swear I felt like this day would never come- all the skids are 18!

She was just turning 12 when DH and I got together.

I know the skids turning 18 doesn't change that they are still DH's kid. LOL. But it's just a good feeling knowing that they are all adults!

Woooo Hoooo!

I don't like you right now. Most of the time I do but not so much today. 9 years, 4 months and 8 days to go.

you suck Wink Wink Wink

5+ more years for me, and dh and i are both in agreement that in order to remain at home a)you will be in school full time and have a part-time job, or b)you will work full time and pay your own way.

Provided that SS can get through school without repeating a grade, I have 4,441 days until the last CS check goes out. Only 370 more!

Congrats to you zerodrama!

Isn't it a wonderful, freeing feeling? My SD was 5 when I started dating DH. It was a long 13 years (and would have been longer had she not gotten married). She's not any more mature than a teenager but at 25, that is not my problem.

Congratulations, you made it!

I thought about that at times too. If I had been in the skids lives when they were younger, would things have been different? Would the relationship be different? Better?

But then again... I'm like 6 years of dealing with minor kids is enough!

}:) }:) Zero - you know she turns 18 and you also knows.... if she snaps her little fingers DH will jump, CS might be stopped going to BM, but believe me she will get double the amount from DH... till she gets on her feet ya know..

I have 9 months left..... just like a pregnancy dammit

Not so sure about this... since she's pregnant. DH is a big believer in if you are grown enough to get pregnant and have a family you are grown enough to take care of the baby and don't need Dad's help.

I'll be there in one short year!

Last spring-summer when SS turned 18 and graduated, it felt like I could finally see the light Smile

I have a long countdown but it's estimated at:
SD17: 1 year, 1 month, 28 days
SD13stb14: 4 years, 1 month, 28 days
SS7: 10 years, 1 month, 28 days
SS6: 11 years, 1 month, 28 days

At current CS amount we pay, that's $82,000 left for the girls and $268,000 for the boys, for a grand total of $350,000.

Sad

*Opens liquor* don't care if it's 10am.

The interviews went fantastic. The big consulting managing director and him got along great and she was already talking in future tense "When you work with us, you will take over this team" etc. etc. He has a call today right now with her other half and I suspect she just wants this woman's confirmation that he's great and they will work on an offer.

The first round with the bank also went great. They have a specific position in mind for him and the CIO who he interviewed with said he seemed perfect. He sent her a thank you email this morning, and she wrote back "great to meet with you also and enjoyed our conversation. I'll have HR reach out to you once you return and we will set up additional conversations. Have a great trip and talk to you soon!" (we are taking a quick getaway this week)

Oh yes... the birthday or event that ends any need to interface with the toxic blended family opposition is a great day. For my Skid that was his 18th birthday. He graduated HS at 17 and turned 18 3mos later.

In our case as the CP household on his 18th b-day CS stopped... not that that pittance made a damned bit of difference to us.

That day was like a hard cut off. They quit calling us and we never missed their departure for a second.

Almost 7yrs later even the Skid has little to nothing to do with them. The SpermClan toxic crap came home to roost big time. Even the Skid has no use for them.

It is interesting that even in the CP household ageing out from under the CO can be a huge point of celebration.

Oh, I just want to share your joy!!! This May will make 3 years since DH sent his last CS check. It took a while for it to sink in that it was FINALLY over after a decade and a half. It's an AWESOME feeling knowing you NEVER, EVER have to send BM a DIME again! DH has only heard from BM twice since then (both by text) and then only asking about health insurance for SS21 (who, thanks to Obama, unless something changes, will be on our health insurance to age 26.) We have spent money on SS23 and his wife and family since then, but not only is it MUCH, MUCH less than the in excess of $1K we were paying BM every MONTH, but SS23 is SO APPRECIATIVE. It's so much nicer for them to get the benefit of it directly. And who's paying for BM's fancy cars, house and trips now?? Pftttttt. I don't care!!!! lolol!

I can't wait until CS is done... and it's not because I care about DH helping out his kids... he still sends money to SD19 (even though he doesn't have to) because she is in college, working and actually doing pretty well. He likes to help her and I'm ok with that as long as she is putting forth SOME type of effort.

What I'm NOT OK with is him having to give money to piece of shit BM2 who has done a shit ass job of raising SS18, uses the money for herself, and uses the threat of raising CS constantly to get her way. In that aspect, I can't wait for it to be DONE!!!!! DH already told BM2 that she can go pound salt if she thinks that he is going to give her a dime once SS graduates (IF he graduates) from HS. There is no reason he can't get a job, other than he's lazy and dumber than 12 boxes of rocks but that's his and BM's fault for making video games, girlfriends and smoking dope a priority over school.
