DH can be such a dope

I'm still laughing at this one. I had lunch with DH and we were talking about getting away for a few days over the summer. All our kids are grown and (mostly) out of the house so this will be just a little adventure and change of scenery. We have already planned a weekend at my brother's house. But DH says this isn't really a vacation. I agree with him.

So his suggestion? Let's go spend a few days with his daughter who lives out of state. I just looked at him. Seriously? (I LIKE his daughter and her family but really? Vacation?) I just started laughing. He was puzzled by that reaction so I literally had to spell it out for him. "Honey, how is spending time with your family a vacation when spending time with mine is not?"

Oh. Duh. He caught on.

Happy weekend everybody.

We (men) are stupid. I would like to apologize on behalf of all of us.

and I'm being serious...

I can recite tomes of particle physics and can do calculations in my head like they're nothing, but when it comes to women and relationships I can fuck up a rock fight.

What is this thing you call a vacation??

We're both workaholics and separated a lot. In four years, no honeymoon, the only vacation we attempted was Orlando with a sulky SD then 11, (which was ruined by BM scheduling a tonsillectomy 2 days before we picked her up, so we couldn't leave the state before her 10-day checkup) and oh yeah, Christmas with the in-laws... I need to steal that man away to the Bahamas or something!

I get miffed at DH on the exact same subject - he acts like lunch with my parents on Father's Day (1 hour away - we're home before 4pm) is the equivalent of a vasectomy with no painkillers, when I'm expected to spend two weeks every other Christmas at his mom's house along with SD and as many of his brothers and sisters (he has six!) and their families as can make it.
