Late night phone calls

Wah-wah-11's picture

Last night everyone is in bed and at 930ish DHs phone starts ringing .. Surprise it's BM. I'm sure she was calling to check on SS bc he has an ear infection. DH didn't answer bc the kids were sleeping already. I told him he could text her and say that I get up at 330am for work phone calls after 9 are not acceptable. He of course didn't. I'm not saying don't call your kids or check on them when sick but when you get off work at 5 don't wait till 930..

BVD, can the phone be set up so that BM's texts/calls do not come through during certain hours? Some phone companies allow you to set it up so that only certain numbers can "call between the hours of X and Z".

Our BM used to call really late all the time, even if it was a week night. Of course, 11pm isn't late for her, she didn't have to get up for work the next morning. Me? Up and at 'em at 0430. Thankfully DH told her to stop the late night phone calls. If he didn't, I would have.

But there was this one time though... it was on a weekend... apparently one of the SK's had texted or tried to call her and she didn't respond until about 2am, stinking drunk. My DH answered the phone (home phone) and she yammered on about how her kids NEEDED her and they didn't answer their phones when she tried to call, so she called our land line. My DH told her to get a life, SOBER UP, and don't ever call here drunk again.

Some phones you can set a contact's ring to silent. If it is a true emergency, a voicemail will be left. If DH's phone is anything like mine, it will give you notification if a call comes in AND a voicemail is left. So he could set her phone calls to silent but get a notification if she leaves a voice mail.

Or, he could do what strikes fear into the heart of ball less wonders everywhere...and stand up to her.

So you mean you have a BM who will call once & let it go?

cuz SD8's BM will call back to back to back for hours. Even if she knows DH is at work. She called him 27 times one day summer before last, while he was at work, & left a VM about how he could not keep her from talking to SD. It was 6 PM & SD was with me & we were out somewhere loud playing with other kids. So I didn't answer.

That was when she got blocked from calling my phone. If you wanna act all kookoo for cocoapuffs you can talk to SD when DH is home from work & that's it.

I hear that! Told my DH that the instant BioHo gets my number is the instant she is BLOCKED.

If your phone doesn't have the silent option you can download a silent ring tone to your phone and then just set that ring tone to that contact.
