OT- Last minute visit from MIL
Mil lives 2 hrs away. Latey shehas been getting jobs that bring her in our area. Due to her job though we never see her when she's around because usually she is just passing thru quickly to get somewhere else. Thatis fine and we understand. Today after work dh tells me his mom is in town. (and your point?) He said she might come by but wasn't sure. (ummm...ok. Not like I have nothing going on or anything.) So we proceed with our regular routine and plan on her not coming. At 7:30 I get the kids ready for bed. They are 5, 4 and 7mths so bedtime during weekdays/school days is BY 8. They wake up at 6:30 for school so they need to be in bed to get plenty of sleep. Anyway, at 8 mil calls and says she's coming by to see the kids. (Really?!) He told her the kids would prob be asleep when she got here. Mil was not happy about that. He told her 'yeah, they are going to bed right now actually.' She's not happy about that. Oh well. So here it is almost 9:30 and dh is up waiting for his mom. The kids are asleep and I wouldn't have kept them up anyway. We'll see if she comes by or not. It just bugs me when his family decides to make these last minute visits. His dad does it too sometimes. (his parents are divorced) I just can't stand it.

You'd think. However she
You'd think. However she raised her kids with no rules, no structure. When I met dh, the siblings still living at home with mil were 7, 9 and 13. Mil worked nights. So...the kids were left alone at night. Dh and older sil checked on them. Mostly sil. But sil wasn't their parent. She just made sure they were safe and would stay the night. So the kids would stay up as late as they wanted and wake up exhausted in the morning. Now, the youngest two are in high school and she lets them do whatever. If they stay up too late and don't make it to school then oh well. So, I can never expect mil to understand where I come from. Our parenting styles are completely opposite.
Oh, and 10:00...still not
Oh, and 10:00...still not here. I bet she isn't coming after all. I told dh good night and he could wait up for his mom!
Ha ha! Right when I set my
Ha ha! Right when I set my alarm and about to go to sleep I hear MIL walk in...10:30. I know it's rude on my part, but I'm so tired. Going to go to bed now!
This!!!!
This!!!!
We get this from my FIL too.
We get this from my FIL too. He lives about an hour away and will call when he's in town asking to come by. Usually it's on Sunday mornings and we're haeading out the door to get stuff done. It's actually kind of sad since he's the only member of DHs family that we ever really see. My SIL & MIL are completely out of our lives (woohoo). But our DS & DD rarely see their grandfather.
Yeah, I don't like it when
Yeah, I don't like it when fil does t either. But he doesn't have anyone. He lives alone and has no friends really. So when he wants to pop in I know he's really lonely. Doesn't mean I enjoy his visits, but I do feel sorry for him.
So I DID go to bed.
So I DID go to bed. Seriously, 10:30 is my bedtime. Some days I fall asleep by 9! So I went to bed. Apparently mil was still mad. She knew she couldn't see the older two but wanted to see the baby. She couldn't understand why she couldn't at least see the baby. Really?! Maybe because by 7:30 the baby is already sleepy. I put her down when I out the other kids to bed. Sure she wakes up but I out her back down because she is a baby! Had I let her stay up she would've been tired and fussy anyway. So now I'm the bad guy because she didn't get to see the baby. She also asked dh where I was. Um...asleep. So I still look like a jerk. Oh well. I don't really care. This is the same woman who hardly had time for our kids when we did live in the same town because she was always with her bf. Now that hey are married she wants to be grandma. Whatever.
Ha ha! Right! Funny, though,
Ha ha! Right! Funny, though, you are right. Dh woke up tired. We both are in bed by 10:30 really. Unfortunately he woke up late and dd was late to school today. Grrr... Oh well. Ps my kids would laugh if they heard someone say 'poopy head'!
