O/T Work Rant Mrs. Headlights Strikes Again!
Another year has gone by and it is inventory time at work again. THis was a job that used to be done by our former EXTREMELY efficient administrative assistant. Backstory, she was pushed out for being too efficient by Mrs. Headlights and the boss, "Dr. Phil" who was having a casual fling with Mrs H. Again, Mrs. H presents me of a list of equipment and wants to know the whereabouts of approx. 60 pieces of equipment. Our former AA would look in our database and check them off as deployed as it clearly shows deployed equipment, who it went to, on what date, what dept. etc etc.
Nope. she simply emails me (and I assume everyone else) a spreadsheet of "missing" equipment which clearly is NOT missing and expects us to look each up giving her a full report on such. The only time the former AA would contact us would be if there was something totally out of whack in our database. For me it was maybe 2-3 pieces of equipment a year where the entry was not properly transfered over or there was a typo,
Once again, I emailed her back with entries in her spreadsheet saying "in XXX database, deployed XXX date" I told her that my inventory entries were all up to date (can't speak for everyone else, some like to put it off) and that the database is correct. She immediately shot back with "I'm going to talk to Dr. Phil (boss) because he told me that YOU have to confirm exactly where everything is."
Ummm, no, the inventory was NEVER done like that. Most of my dept's equipment is MOBILE aka out in the field and cannot physically have your hands on it like a workstation/desktop could be accessed. Some of my dept is C shift so they rarely come into the office with their equipment unless it is broken. In addition, last year Mrs. H sent perfectly good equipment to recycling due to her extreme incompetence!!! Give me strength to survive this last 13 mos!!!
