WTF are "casual suicidal thoughts"? Like he just happens to be eating a grapefruit and thinks "huh, suicide seems like something exciting to try today"?!?!

I can't stand the generation under me (I am a Millenial) and their casual mentions of death and suicide. It's not glamorous to cry as you hold a knife to your skin and wonder if you actually have the strength to push down. It's not glamorous to drive down a country road at 90 MPH and wonder if you'll hit the tree hard enough to end it. It's not glamorous to drive 6 hours in one direction with no recollection of how you got there and wondering if you should go back. Wondering if you keep driving if they'll ever find you or your body. Even when YOU WANT to end it, it's a FRACKING TERRIFYING THOUGHT that this time might be the time that you can't stop yourself and you know - you KNOW - dying won't actually fix the problem. But, just like an addiction, it would feel SO GOOD when you do it.

Nope - I'd lose my sh!t on your SS, even knowing it would do zero good.

I've never understood parents who require nothing of their children and do nothing to prepare them for adulthood.

Do they really think that life is going to be easier on their kids than they were???

One of my DH’s nephews is in his 20s.

Doesn’t work as not at all, doesn’t go to school, has a car and smokes cigarettes that parents buy him and pot that he buys with his allowance.

They recently went on exotic tropical vacation, he went with them. My SIL’s reasoning behind him doing nothing: he is still finding himself. Their other son only recently finally started attending community college. Prior to that he also just sat home: too depressed to go to school or work. Must be nice. Both parents are hard working though. Not lazy themselves. I honestly blame parents for raising kids like that. I can’t even imagine.
