Money falls from the skies for the skids - OUR turn!

teristepmom's picture

Inspired by another post about a DH who insists on more and more money being spent on the skids for Easter. Yet we step-moms so often go without in order to fund the "life styles of the rich and famous" for these little darlings. Please! I say that next time we are told that we simply did not spend enough on the skids we take that as proof positive that there is PLENTY of disposable income - whether there is or not! - that DH is willing to spend to make those whom he loves happy. And that includes US, right? Well, it damned well BETTER!

Next time we are sent out to purchase more and more stupid crap to enrich the lives of our ungrateful skids, who will take one look at what we bought and toss it aside anyway, I say we make a charming little purchase for ourselves! Some nice perfume, shoes, whatever you are into. Because if DH wants to make his loved ones so damned happy on a holiday, then that SURELY must include US!!!!

I agree, and every time a skid demands an outrageous gift, we should be right there saying "what about me?" I want cash, designer clothes, electronics, jewelry, and a car also.

Now if I ever said the words "what about me" DH would go off on his "stop being so jealous of my daughter" rant!! It is so frustrating!!

My DH is the worlds biggest ass!!!!! I actually feel like pounding my head against the wall over and over and over again!!!

Never said you had to tell him! Just go shopping and bring home what you bring home........and "lose' the receipts! }:)

I always lose the receipts!! Then I say "this old thing" I have had it for years. Then SD15 usually chimes in with " I saw that at the store the other day, ITS NEW" and runs away crying!!

Well he is on his way home and I am off shopping!! I am going to take my time and get myself something too!

Of course she "must be mistaken." Since when do grown women and teenagers shop in the same stores/departments? I call bullshit and am guessing that she thinks your DH will buy it because he doesn't know jack about women's shopping. Perhaps asking her what she could possibly be doing in that department would do the trick?

"Gee, SD - I don't recall you showing interest before in pumps, dresses and other adult clothing. Guess it is time we take you out of your slutty juniors clothing and you can start dressing like ME!" Blum 3

Let her run away crying turn to your DH and blink twice and repeat after me:

"Honey, I think I need to go shopping for clothes. Apparently I have had mine for so long that they have come back into style again. Jeez that normally takes about 20 years! Anyway, to ensure 'princess' isn't upset thinking I got new clothes and she didn't I'm going to trot down to the local (consignment store/mall/etc) and grab some stuff off the clearance rack! Wow... imagine that... my wardrobe is now the new style!"

Just finished some very excellent on-line shopping. Odd - previous "apologies" were of the "sorry if you felt that way but..." variety and never felt very satisfying. This "apology" - despite the fact that it did not come from his lips - was MUCH more satisfying and gives me a nice little glow. Hmmmmm..... shallow? Sure as hell is. And I'll take that over being the doormat for FH and the skids any damned day of the week! }:)

That totally works too but a lot of women on here do not have separate accounts so it avoids a fight by combining it.

I love how Easter has become a big shopping season, too. We would get a basket of candy and some goodies...but now...these kids are ridiculous.

I agree...I always hated that it was never enough for SD. Buy smething better for youself....you deserve it!
